What are you like in the morning?
The funny thing is, Buffy used to be a morning person. Up until the middle of tenth grade, it was the time of day that fit her lifestyle. Sunshine, enthusiasm, pep. Picking out a really cute outfit, having a nutritious breakfast, kissing her mom and dad on the cheek, and bouncing out the door to begin a really awesome day. By third period, her attention was already seriously wandering, and then school let out and there was cheerleading or dance team -- which was seriously aerobic excercise -- and then someone always needed something at the mall. After sitting in the foodcourt for a couple hours, checking out boys and keeping on top of the gossip, she would have to hide a yawn as she walked in the door -- much less with the bouncing -- dragged herself upstairs, took a hopeless look at the pile of homework she hadn't quite gotten to in study hall, then decided a good night's sleep was more important. She would get to it tomorrow. When she had more energy.
Then the dreams started. Then Merrick, the first watcher, came and found her, and she discovered that not only had she been chosen (somehow, somewhere) to fight evil demons for the remainder of her short life. These demons were specifically creatures of the darkness. As in night.
Since then, she can't remember when she had a good night's sleep. And, without a good night's sleep, it's hard to have a good morning. Much less a good morning after. But that's yet another story.
