recent developments in the life of katie
1. i have a bruise the size of my hand on my thigh! i'm sure i've told most of you the dramatic story... basically, i fell down the larrabee stairs and landed with all my weight on this one place on my leg. it's also pretty swollen, so it looks like all the ice cream bars i've been eating lately have gone straight to this one lump on my leg. attractive.
i actually kind of like having the bruise (haha as weird as that sounds) because it's fun in a sadistic way to see people gasp and twist their face around when i show it to them.
2. this past saturday i had my first experience with someone being so drunk that they got sick. i spent about an hour holding julia's head over the toilet and keeping her propped up on the bathroom floor... it was really scary, actually. at one point she just sort of fell completely limp and asleep in my arms and turned really pale. i thought maybe she had blacked out so i shook her (maybe too hard) and immediately she started making pained groaning sounds again... so i knew she was okay, but it really was hard to see her like that. i dont think she estimated the effect that rum would have on her... this was the first time since we've been here that there has been anything other than beer available... although i didn't drink anything, because i was playing mommy that night between making sure jake the creeper didnt try to rape jennie (he has a really bad reputation, and she thought he was "cute") and holding julia upright so she didnt start flailing around and cracking her head on the pavement. it was definitely an overwhelming night. but we're all okay now.
3. i signed up for a mission trip to SOUTH AFRICA this spring break!!!!!!!!
now... if my parents will just let me go. but i think i can convince them. the trip is to work at an AIDS orphanage... i know it will be heartbreaking, but i still want to go SO BADLY i can't even EXPLAIN! i think i should prepare a speech to make to mom and dad if i want to make sure they say yes... i have to go on this trip. i HAVE TO. it is an absolutely incredible opportunity. oh my godddddd.
4. of course, i visited nyc this friday! it was great. it was interesting to see a completely different college environment. and of course the BEST PART was seeing my loves, hei-yue, zeinu, and nikku. yessssssssssssssssss
5. i did well on my first college paper! i reeallyy hope the one i passed in today turns out just as well!
6. mommy is coming tomorrow and she's taking me out to lunch! yay.
