Here are the other three drabbles I mentioned last night. They all have spoilers for last week's episode, The Kindness of Strangers.
Title: The Sun in Their Lives
Author:
summerkinsRating: PG
Disclaimer: I don't own Heroes, unfortunately.
Characters/Pairings: Matt, Molly, and Mohinder
Table/Prompt: Sun, Watch and Helpless
Word Count: 414 total. (Sun: 109, Watch: 162, Helpless: 143)
Summary: Molly's the one who holds them together, how will Matt and Mohinder react when something happens to her?
Author's Notes: I actually wrote these three before I wrote Passion, but felt the need to put that one with the other post, because these three go together. I was freaking out at the end of that episode....
Sun:
Molly is the sun in their lives. She shines so brightly when she’s happy, when she hugs them tight after school, and before bed. Even when the nightmares come, it’s just as though the clouds have covered the sun. But then the wind blows the clouds away and the sun starts shining again. When Molly looks for Matt’s father and he grabs hold of her and won’t let go, it’s as if night has fallen, and it seems that the night will last forever. That’s why they need to get her free. That’s why they have to go to Philadelphia. They need the warm touch of the sun again.
Watch:
Matt sits in the back of the car with Molly’s head on his lap. Mohinder is driving toward Philadelphia, towards his father, towards the man who has taken their little girl away. He hums an off key tune and lightly strokes her cheek as the miles pass. When they get her back, he vows silently, he’ll never force her to use her power again, no matter how much he wants it. He knows, logically, that he didn’t really force her, not technically, but he can’t help feel guilty. He knew that she did it because she loves him and didn’t want to disappoint him. But he knows he shouldn’t have pushed her, should have just let her stop when they got the apartment building, and the guilt eats away at him. There’s nothing he can do just yet. Nothing but sit there and watch her to shallow breathing, and her stillness, and hope against hope that they’ll be able to save her.
Helpless:
Mohinder feels so helpless as he drives. He feels that he should have stopped Molly sooner, should have told her not to do it at all, something, anything to keep this from happening. He’ll never forget the terror he felt when she suddenly went still after screaming. Or the look on Matt’s face when she wouldn’t wake up, the way his voice raised an octave and the tears welled in his eyes. He can’t imagine how the other man must feel, how Molly must feel, trapped in her own mind by the boogieman. He hates feeling so helpless, like nothing he’ll ever do will let her trust him again. He told her they’d keep her safe, and in the end, they failed. He stares out the windshield and blinks hard and rapidly to keep back the tears. They’ll save her, they have to.
