I know this is all I seem to talk about lately, but I'm totally consumed with money and budgeting and thinking about my financial future right now. For the past few weekends I've been spending my time reading Gail Vaz-Oxlade's blog and website and basically obsessing over getting myself debt-free

you are partially right about the last minute thing...but also it could really blow up in our faces too. yes there are lots of great last minute deals to take advantage of...but there are also thousands of other canadians who are taking advantage of them too....so we could end up missing out entirely because we waited too long. for me, personally, i'm not into the idea of waiting until last minute. i'd like to know by december-ish that this is actually going to happen so i can decide if i'm going to put in a time off request or if i can save it for later on in the year and do a longer or bigger trip with some additional money i have saved. i know it's a lot to ask from minna because of a large amount of job uncertainty, but i do think we should talk about it come december.

also, question for minna (even though this is jenn's journal) how are you planning to pay for rent once you get back to vancouver if you don't get paid for a whole month? just curious because i know both you and nicole were planning to squat at our house for a short period of time once back. something we need to talk about too!
