Hell's bells, Trudy!

Ugh, I'm so sick of those horrid Evony ads. Those, and the "1 Rule to Obey for a Flat Stomach!" or whatever. Come on! The girls in the before and afters aren't even the same! And as for the Evony ones, aren't they going for a medieval thing? Why do all the skanky chicks in the ads just look like trashy 90s girls? Whoever came up with those ads ( Read more... )

i've been meaning to mention all of those ridiculous flat stomach and white teeth ads that are popping up all over livejournal. they drive me absolutely nuts. they are definitely putting the idea in young people's minds that you need to have the flattest stomach possible and glaringly white teeth. ugh.

i'm in the same boat as you with trying to re-handle the finances and get control of it all. although my debt isn't quite as much as yours, and i have no intention of buying a house, it's still hard to adjust the lifestyle. for me, i have found that not buying coffees every day and sometimes twice a day on weekends really helps. also making a huge effort every night to pack my breakfast and lunch to bring to work the next day helps too. these are just small cost cutting ideas that have worked for me. freezing the visa is a good idea. just make sure you keep the self control high enough that you don't cave and unfreeze it! i kept unfreezing mine, so obviously it didn't work for me. so right now my mom is holding on to my visa until i get a large amount of it paid off. it's working so far. i have realized how much i do actually reach for the card now that it's not there. slowly we will learn self control with it! we can team up and support each other!

i'm glad you are getting back into your running and exercise. it's probably good that you started now before it starts getting too cold and you use that as an excuse not to go out and do anything. i know i would. just keep trotting along and the runs will get easier! you know all of that since you have done this before! :) we do need to start doing our posts in our community again. i have just been collaborating my every day life posts with my exercise posts since it has been easiest. but maybe we should get the comm going. maybe i'll post today and get it moving again!!

okay i should do some work. great to hear from you!!!

Those are good tips for saving money, but sadly I already make my own coffee and pack lunches every day as well. :( It's the nights when I don't feel like cooking, and weekends are especially bad because I'll think, "Oh, sushi sounds good! Oh, an iced capp sounds good!" That kind of stuff. I've noticed that all the little things have been adding up, and the summer had made me really comfortable with reaching for the Visa whenever I didn't have enough cash on hand. Bad times!!! But yeah, I'll get out of it. Eventually. :P A new car is another thing on my to-buy list, so I REALLY need to be good!

Oh lord, I'm SO GLAD I've done the whole training thing before. It's the only thing helping me to keep going, knowing that I HAVE run long distances and I CAN do it. It's definitely humbling only being able to go so far right now, though! I would imagine you've probably felt the same, though at least you have a good reason for having to start back at the beginning, unlike me and my lazy ass. :P

Yay, updates! Wheee!
