I haven't found it

I thought it would be
here or there
simple
no mess
if not A
then surely B
until that moment dawns
I had thought
in my own foolishness
that I was set
then it came
the moment of
perfect eye sight
and I saw
all that I wished
and thought i had
were only in my head
I was neither here nor there

I haven't found it
the elusive it
see i played a trick
on myself
put on the wrong lens
gave the wrong descriptions
so that I would
have myself believe
what I had
were right
were good
were "it"
deception, by my hands
stupidity, on my own

covered my eyes
I smiled
covered my ears
I chuckled
in a world
all of my own
in a world
all by myself
and I haven't found it

so I haven't found it
