Welcome everyone!
Hello all, and welcome to summercon! I had the idea to throw this a few months ago. There have been some versions of this thrown in the past online, so I’m taking a few ideas here and there, and am throwing in some original thoughts in between. Basically, I wanted to have a big huge slumber party type con that we don’t have to spend money on plane tickets for, but still be able to interact with people outside our normal circles and just...do all the things in one crazy week that make fandom neat. To that end, this ‘con’ welcomes *all* of fandom, and whatever your ship may be, you’ll find a place for it somewhere here.
Over the next several days, we’re going to have several challenges that will allow both artists and writers to participate, we’re going to have episode clip watching from Supernatural, SGA, SV, Veronica Mars, Prison Break and other shows. We’ll have vid premieres, and a zine that two dozen fantastic authors and artists contributed toward later in the week. We’ll have meta posts for those of you who like the thinky parts of fandom, and really really wrong challenges for those of you who love the omgcrazy.
I tried to come up with some really fantastic stuff to do, under the very loose theme of, hey, summer’s almost over, let’s give it one last hurrah! I wheedled and e-mailed and got the participation of some of my favorite people in fandom, and they’ve gone above and beyond in order to make this what should be (IF YOU PARTICIPATE hint hint) a really fun, unique fannish experience.
And if it goes well, we’ll have another one next year and it’ll be even better ‘cause then I’ll know what I did wrong in this one WHEE.
So. Promote! Do something fun (and/or scary!) with your writing! Respond to the stuff you like!
