FIC: A Heavy Darkness Falling, Chapter 1/7

ETA: I really should not even attempt to write summaries when I'm exhausted from having spent two solid days at the computer, writing and editing. Is slightly less ridiculous now, I think.

Aw, I'd forgotten how much I liked the opening to this! Ethan is hysterical in his way, and Giles' grumpiness is adorable. I'd say more, but suddenly I'm getting very sleepy. I think I feel a nap...

Holy...wow. I can't even begin to tell you how amazing this is. The detail that comes out in every word. I love it and I can't wait for the rest. This is such good writing!

(I know this icon isn't exactly appropriate, but it's the only Willow one I've got loaded!)

60 thousand words in three weeks? Wow. Would, you, um, like a pillow? So that you can sleep now?

Great first chapter. I love all the physical details-not that I have any familiarity with tropical rainforests, but your descriptions feel authentic, and very evocative. Plus, it's neat to see Ethan-as you know, I've just been playing with him myself, so it's fun to see him in a different role.

This was great:
“Perhaps you’re right. Perhaps we can’t scare you. But we would like to try, wouldn’t we, Ripper?”

“Yes,” Giles said. “I think we would.”

Thank you!

I'm not quite that fast though - it took me six weeks. The first 40,000 words happened in about three weeks though. And yes, a pillow would be most welcome.

I'm glad you liked the descriptions. They felt a bit gratuitous at times, but I like the way it turned out. And Ethan! My Ethan is quite a bit different from yours, but pretty much any way you go, he's fun to write.

Very intriguing start! I love the bit about Paulo turning out to be an agent of the First. He played his "tour guide" role well.

Possibly he was a tour guide by day, demon worshipping fanatic by night. One never knows. And thank you!

What an incredible beginning! I am thoroughly looking forward to this story playing out. (Plus, big yay for Willow/Giles, with a side of helpful!Ethan thrown in.)

Thank you!

I ask again, as I have many times: Why is there not more Giles/Willow out there?

Also, your icon is hot.

The icon is one that I made, so thank you. Giles/Willow is my OTP in this fandom, even if I do stray from time to time.

I was going to wait until I finished reading the entire story, but I may as well ask now. I run a Willow/Giles archive, Hairy Eyeball, and I would love to add this to the archive. As well as any other G/W stories you may have written. Like you pointed out, this is a dying pairing and I'm doing my best to preserve all of the great W/G stories.

Ooh, thanks for the link, and of course you may archive it. Do you need the files?

A dying pairing, eh? Hmm, that is worrisome. Makes me want to run a winter_of_willow this year even more, actually.
