Oooo, I like! Looking forward to the next installment.
I love your first paragraph. Especially this bit: While what went on inside that row house was rather extraordinary, on the surface it looked very much like the others surrounding it. In fact, its only distinguishing feature was the agitated Englishman pacing outside.
Loving the image of an irritated Giles pacing about on the pavement! =D
Thank you for that. I was a bit unsure about the opening to be honest, as I had started with the bit about Buffy giving Giles grief on the phone and worked outward. I wasn't sure it was the best start, but I kept it in because, like you, the idea of an irritated Giles pacing out in front amused me. :-)
Looking forward to seeing how this story plays out. When they both got lost I thought it was going to be some weird demon trick but happily they were just drawn together, which is an interesting idea. Glad to see her still putting the Old Council in their place. It's always fun to see her being strong to them and taking none of their crap.
Thank you! After I wrote the summary, I realized that people were probably going to think that Buffy was in danger and that the plot was going to be a lot more exciting that it actually was. I'm glad it was a happy surprise that I didn't go there!
Giles, though, wasn't actually lost. He has to know Bloomsbury pretty well at this point, having worked at the British Museum. He just wandered further away than he was intending. Sort of like how you can miss your exit or your stop because your mind is on something else. (I have a rough idea where everything was happening geographically and I needed a way to get Giles close to Tottenham Court Road without having to stick the Council office right there. But I liked that I could then ascribe it to Giles being drawn to where Buffy was, because it's an interesting concept to explore.)
I really enjoyed the first installment! I really liked the calling that Buffy was doing subconsciously to find Giles. I always like stories that explore the mystical connection between Watcher and Slayer. I'm definitely looking forward to part two! :)
