Favorite Giles Moments: Season 4, Part B
In the great tradition of this comm, I'm proud to bring you more of my favorite moments of Giles from Season 4! Again, remember, this is my favorite Btvs season, so I have an unholy number of images behind the cut for you to remember, and enjoy, of our favorite Watcher!
And to lead it all off, since I'm starting at Beer Bad (and going until we're done with A New Man), I give you this little exchange from Giles and Xander:
Giles: I can't believe you served Buffy that beer.
Xander: I didn't know it was evil.
Giles: You knew it was beer.
Xander: Well, excuse me, Mr. 'I spent the sixties in an electric-kool-aid-funky-Satan groove.'
PICS 1 & 2: Xander, you know who to fetch when things go strange! Giles!
I love their expressions in Pic 2 - perfect for the first glimpse of a cave slayer
PICS 3 & 4: Be very very careful when approaching said cave!slayer.
Very. Careful. Bend over and talk slowly if you have to!
PICS 5 & 6: I had to include the really cute moment on the left -
three of them wondering what to do with a recovering Buffy. And Giles at the Bronze!
PICS 7 & 8: See, even Giles studies with the TV on! And Pic 8 was just the sweetest look.
PICS 9 & 10: Giles' living room! So many great moments in this season happen in his flat.
PICS 11 & 12: Giles can draw! I love the buddy-stuff between him & Xander in Initiative.
And Pic 12 - how often do you get offered a juice box!?
PICS 13: Buddy-search for the weird soldiers (and Giles in a leather duster).
PIC 14: Giles being... impatient? with Buffy's urge to cook in Pangs
PIC 15: Angel! In Giles' house! I wonder if it was because he left town that
Giles thought he was less of a threat? PIC 16: More cooking!!!
PIC 17: It wouldn't be thanksgiving without a little family fight, right?
Trust Willow to make it about celebrating thanksgiving!
PIC 18: I love this ep because it is so Buffy + Giles being the heads of their little family. With stakes!
PIC 19: And Spike comes a-begging. I love Giles' expression here - he knows Spike spells trouble, and yet...
PIC 20: Watcher and Slayer and mini-crossbows! We so rarely get to see them fight together
(train yes, fight no), and I love this coordinated moment
PIC 21 & 22: The inedible feast! And look at how Giles is trying to put a good face on it! With an arrow at his elbow!
PIC 23 & 24: Ok, this scene is comedy gold not only because Buffy taunts the crap out of Spike,
but because Giles is doing wonderful things in the background. I mean, look at that eyeroll on the right!
PIC 25 & 26: Giles calls Willow on her 'irresponsibility' and gets blinded for it! Poor Watcher!
PIC 27: SPELLS! GILES AND SPIKE WERE DOING SPELLS. /ok, i'll stop being 10 right now
PIC 28: Oh my god that expression ... not becasue he can't see, but because he's seeing Spike & Buffy engaged
PIC 29 & 30: Something Blue made me so happy for so many reasons ...
Giles does 'losing my sight' so awesomly. And Xander's fingers!
PIC 31: Giles: Please stop whatever you're doing. You smell like fruit roll-ups.
PIC 32: Giles' sight returned! And Willow does her guilt!baking
PIC 33: Not oatmeal, chocolate chip!
PIC 34: I LOVE the odd-couple thing that Giles & Spike have going on at the beginning of Hush
PIC 35 & 36: Like look at that - Spike the nerdo well, and Giles the study guy!
PIC 37: AND OLIVA RETURNS! YAY! PIC 38: Ok, I know this isn't a Giles moment,
but it is one of my favorite Giles and Willow moments
PIC 39: this one too. They communicate so well without talking!
PIC 40: Giles in bed!!! *grin* sorry, fangirl here.
PICS 41 - 46: The presentation portion! I love Giles cracking his knuckles to get to work,
the backwards slide, and the silly drawings of too much blood!
PIC 47: sorry, couldn't help myself. Hush is one of my favorite episodes ever, and I just can't resist the really
bloody picture at the end PIC 48: Oh Joss, why do ALL relationships have to be sad?
Even when Giles is being funny:
Olivia: "All the time you used to talk to me about witchcraft and darkness and the like -
I just thought you were being pretentious."
Giles: "Oh I was. I was also right."
Olivia: "So everything you told me was true."
Giles: "Well no, um, I wasn't actually one of the original members of Pink Floyd. But the monster stuff, yes."
Olivia: "Scary."
Giles: "Too scary?"
Olivia: "I don't know."

PIC 51: I have no idea - it's just a cute Giles!look.
PIC 52: Ok, I LOVE couch research! They're all together with the books and the world is coming to an end
PIC 53 & 54: And Giles discovers he's had the damn thing in his posession!
PIC 55: Bruised Giles! And Xander actually helps! (you know, one of the things I've noticed doing these picspams is that
Xander is the one who seems to remember Giles can be broken. I wonder if it's something to do with their guy status?
Or their 'strickly human' status?

PIC 57: Meeting Riley! And Riley just not getting Giles humor PIC 58: Couldn't NOT include the feather duster.

PIC 59: Professor Walsh impuning Buffy (and Giles, for that matter). I love his expression of "oh no you didn't!"
PIC 60: Oh Giles! Sorry Buffy kept you out of the loop - especially because you wear brown jackets so well!
PIC 61: I couldn't resist the 'interrogation' cap - don't Willow & Xander look so guilty when confronted?

PIC 64: Ok, and then let's switch gears over a couple of beers.
After all, he and Ethan are just a couple of old mystics
PIC 65 & 66: Citroen!!!!!!! And Fyarl!Giles in the mirror. The expression of horror is so awesome with pointy teeth
PIC 67 & 68: When Giles leaned over Xander ... again, comedy gold. And Spike who actually understands Fyarl!
The great part is that they still left Giles' face mobile enough to grimace in this costume, and you can totally see it.
PIC 69 & 70: Grinding the gears in the citroen - $100 for a new transmission. Frightening Maggie Walsh? Priceless!
PIC 71: Doesn't he look like the cutest demon woobie in this shot?? Yeah, I thought so too.
PIC 72: Ok, so Buffy does win the fight, but ... don't hurt him Buffy!
PIC 73: The face of frustration! PIC 74: Rumpled!Giles. Probably with a post-transformation headache.
PIC 75: Oh the cuteness of a rescued Giles!
PIC 76: Buffy: Uh-oh, you have "but-face." (Giles narrows his eyebrows at her)

PIC 77 & 78: Even through all the fun, the initiative is something to take seriously, you know?
PIC 79: Ok, this is my second-favorite screencap, EVER. Giles is in Xander's
basement, and he's looking over weapons, and none of that matters
because this is where I turn into a 12 year old and just ... sigh.
He's SO DREAMY.
