It's time for a better introduction. My name is Summer Glau, I'm 23 and I hail from San Antonio, Texas. Prior to acting, I was a prima ballerina. That ballet experience is what landed me an episode of Angel, my first experience in working with Joss Whedon. He liked me enough that he cast me as River Tam in his short-lived sci-fi space western series, Firefly. Playing River and working with that cast and crew was a dream for me. It was the best experience I've ever had, working with that group was fun every day. It was obvious everyone not only enjoyed what we did, but we loved the project itself.
Needless to say I was delighted when Universal gave Joss the greenlight for a movie after the series was cancelled. Getting to work with them again was wonderful enough but when the story Joss wrote for us was added into the deal there was no way I would have thought to say no. Besides, it's not every day you have someone that talented write a script as kick ass as that one for your first starring vehicle.
It's going to be a long nine months waiting for the premiere, but Universal is making sure we get exposure by sending us out to various movie premieres. It's one way to get our faces out there before Serenity premieres that's for sure.
