RA Camp, etc...
so, i've been done with the whole barlow/RA camp thing for quite some time buuuuut the internet in my room has been down, so right now i'm up in 3 south next to jason's room, sitting on a bureau and updating all you lovely people from here. the funny thing is, this is the room me, michelle and stephanie have been living in the last two nights, and probably for the rest of training--the first night we were done with barlow, kevin told us ghost stories about URI campus and we've all been waaaaay too scared to sleep alone since then so it's been a big slumber party up in the 323, dave and jim's old room. it's hilarious to me because i'm actually sleeping in dave's old bed--can't wait to let him in on that one. we call it the "scaredy cat squad" and we decorated the door and everything, super cool.
so, most of what i have to say is that i'm making my journal quasi-friends-only. during training we had a biiiiiig discussion about things like facebook and livejournal and pictures online and stuff like that. i don't know, i think it's pretty lame but i do definitely understand--some members of the HRL (housing and residential life) staff feel that, since they're providing us with this server and all, that they have the right to read/look at everything we read/write/look at while on it. from there, obviously, there's a ton of grey-area over what's acceptable and what's not. especially when it comes to residents--i mean, it's not really going to be an issue in the little four dorms like tucker because we all basically know all of the residents within the first few weeks--it's just a small, cozy place. but in the bigger dorms like gorham and butterfield, say a resident just knows and RA's name and never really sees him/her--the resident can search them on facebook, find their screen name, maybe find a link to a photo page or a livejournal, and take things as far as they want with what they find. so basically, i'm just going to "friends only" this bitch here, and once in a while i'm sure i'll post things just for everyone and if you want to add me, totally cool as well. just to clarify, this is totally not to exclude anyone, just a precaution because not that i do anything horribly wrong or that i think HRL would ever have a problem with, but you never know and everything is open to interpretation, i guess.
that's basically all i have to say right now, it's hot as balls in here and i'm gonna go take a shower, i think, because something in here smells pretty bad anddddd chances are...it's me.
