an email i sent out this morning...
hey everyone,
its time for an email update on my life! yay!
so after some serious consideration and a lot of wrestling with certain ideas, i have decided to accept a position with the coalition of labor union women (www.cluw.org) which means i will be moving to washington d.c. i will be their national organizer and membership coordinator. its a position i am VERY excited about despite not being so excited about the move to d.c. but nevertheless, i think its the right decision.
hilary, will of course, be making the move with me. her position here has started to become a bit tiring and she's excited to start fresh with a new position that will be more clinical. she will be taking the exam for her license in a few weeks and i know she will do great. hil has also lived in dc before while working at the walter reed army medical center and knows some great people in the area.
for now, we're looking at being down there by the start of May. housing is tricky and very expensive. we're leaning towards alexandria, va and the eastern market neighborhood inside the district. if anybody has any ideas, definitely let us know! we're looking forward to the change, being closer to my family, and me starting this great job. i will also be traveling a lot so hopefully my path will cross with all my friends/family around the country.
we've really settled into philly and have enjoyed it very much...the city of brotherly love will certainly be missed but will only be a quick car or train trip away. and never fear, our dream of one day moving back to the green mountain state will one day be realized. in the meantime, i'm going to try and get my fill of cheesesteaks, water ice and all the other wonderful things philly has to offer before we leave!
