Amen. It's his complexities that make him interesting. I loved how Tom Hiddleston described him as always destined to cross and recross the line because he will always fall. I love that his desires and his very being don't allow him to be anything but himself. Mischief, lies, chaos...he serves his own purposes and the way those goals align may be good or bad for Thor, Asgard, the world. I love that despite all of that I can still understand some of why. But at the same time I think a lot of the fandom is forgetting his origins as one of the most prominent gods of Norse mythology and the quintessential trickster of Western mythology. He is not a puppet easily used. When he does things it is on his own head and he wouldn't expect any less

I don't want a redemption arc, per se, because I don't think Loki would ever want to be redeemed, but I would love to see them explore the grey areas of him and his relationship with Thor even more. Have him both betray and then save Thor because it's totally something he would do. And through it all, remember that, in the end, Thor always forgives him. He may punish him, treat him badly, and rage, but he'll always forgive him.
Yeah in the actual movies I like the idea of slight temporary reconciliation not redemption but I am a sucker for fanfic redemption stories so long as they aren't shallowly characterized. We all have our things. :D
For fanfic, I'll read redemption and generally enjoy it if he and Thor are written well, so long as it's not along the lines of Loki suddenly realizing how wonderful and pure and good the world is because Thor loves him. It just doesn't work that way lol
