patience people
i went back home today for the first time in awhile. did some yard work to get gareth reimbursed for the vet visits. mom said not to tell dad and that what he didn't know wouldn't hurt him. but i know his stocks are hurting pretty bad right now. so i feel bad taking from them. plus he was a little confused as to why i'd been there all day helping with yardwork. "just wanted to visit and help out." i got to look at all his italy pictures. over a thousand. i'm impressed. usually he takes only a handful on trips. he had all sorts of stories to go with them too. i basically got a history lesson but with illustrations in modern times. mom told me stories too. about the toy-maker that reminded her so much of gepetto. they're off to california tomorrow to visit national parks before going to my dad's annual work retreat. this time in san francisco. lucky people. but i know my dad works hard for his play. i hope i find the means to work and play someday. mom asked me today if she made me feel inadequate as a child and that's why i didn't try to get a good job now. i had to explain to her that if i had gone out a year ago and looked for a job in photography i would have looked like an idiot. i've learned so much from the people in these photo classes. i think i might be ready soon. just told her to be patient.
