a) Pakistani
b) Indian
c) Muslim
When people see "Sumaira.net" they automatically assume I am one of the above. When in fact, I'm not any of the above. I'm American and Catholic. (My husband is Pakistani and Muslim.) Yes, I know Sumaira is a typically foreign name. I liked it because 1) Amir came up with it for me 2) it allows me to blog without using my real name and have some illusion of privacy. Sumaira has become a nickname for me, among real life and online friends. But on to my real point...
Because of this name, and I guess the nature of some of my posts, I've been getting odd email's. One person thought I was his long lost girlfriend. Another wrote me an entire email because they wanted to know if I knew the meaning of my name. One was all in Urdu. And last but not least, the email's that I get containing random information about Muslims. Whether it be informative or derogatory, I don't read them people! 95% of the time, they don't even make it past my SPAM filter. Its not that I have anything against getting Islamic related literature in my Inbox, its the "I didn't ask you to send this to me" part that annoys me. When I want to read up on religion, whether it be Catholicism, Islam, Buddhism etc Ill go out and find the info on my own.....
There, rant is done. I'll now return you to your regularly scheduled blogging....
*Ohh, update to this semi-rant, err post. It occured to me as I was checking my links that people may also think I'm Muslim because I link to so many Muslim blogger sites. I can't help it. Their sites are great and so are they, so Ptthhhp!*
