Important News and a very Important Poll!
Hello Smash! A couple of announcements, but first we'd like to thank you for your opinions and insight on some of the possible changes we proposed (and some that we already have implemented) over on plurk. We absolutely love feedback because we have another proposal for you right now.
1) In case you missed that implemented change or would like an opportunity to voice your opinion outside of plurk; Starting August 8th there will be two new franchises that you are allowed to app from: Capcom and Squareenix. There are important limitations you should read for our "transfer student" program if you (or someone you know!) is interested, so please head over here for more details. We hope opening our doors a little will entice new players into the game, yet with only one-per-player continue to keep Smash feeling like it should: a good ol' fashion school rumble. Spread the word.
2) Just a reminder, our Tiki Vacation has been extended until August 5th due to the LJ attacks.
3) Our new proposal: Journal system vs. Community system. Most of you know what these terms mean, but if you don't here's a quick crash course. Journal-based games require you to use an add/drop list and friend everyone, then you make comments in everyone's journals when they update. Comm-based games do the same but through a community. No add/drop list. All "journal" entries are posted to this community, instead of in individual journals. Smash is a Journal-based system, and it has been since its inception. BUT. We were thinking of changing that for several reasons.
Edit: MAKE SURE YOU READ ALL OF THE COMMENTS BEFORE VOTING AS WELL.

That's a pretty big change, and one everyone would have to actively take part of. SO. POLL TIME!
Community
+ You can use the same account in several games (which is good if you get a paid account)
+ No Add/drop list
+ All the journal post are made in one community which is easier to watch
+ You can create icon mules (a 2nd account to give yourself more icons)
- You need to add your character tag to everything
- Harder to navigate for a specific post
- Community cannot be customized to your specific liking.
Journal
+ You have easy access to all your entries
+ You can edit the layout to your liking
+ No need to add character tags to your posts unless you want.
- Add Drop list have to be always updated
- Account can be used only in that game for journal purposes
- You can't have icon mule accounts, obviously
