Saw Harry Potter 5 at midnight last night. Quite good, really - plus new Rickman scenes, which are ALWAYS worth it! So now I'm in the mood for Potterfic.
Today's goal: Read as many different Harry Potter pairings as possible.
Completed so far:
Hermione/Severus - My OTP, and has been forever. I actually love them in romantic stories that include sex rather than PWPs, which is very rare for me.
Hermione/Lucius - One of those "just sex" sort of pairings. Crazy hot, though.
Hermione/Ron/Harry - My endless love for threesomes makes these worth reading.
Ron/Ginny - Incest. Hot. What can I say?
Hermione/Sirius - Never read this one before, but it was quite lovely. Interesting possibilities.
Harry/Draco - They really do have great chemistry. This is always a fun pair to read because come on, who doesn't love enemy slash?
Severus/Sirius - I have the feeling this could be done very well, but the one I read didn't do that. I'm curious to read more.
Fred/George - Love them. Love the twincest. Fabulously hot, and probably the most fun you're ever going to have with a fic.
Harry/Sirius - My first time reading this as well, but HOLY COW did the fifth movie completely promote this pairing!
James/Sirius - My first time with this pairing - with any marauders-era pairing, actually. It's very different - there's next to no canon to get in the way.
Lucius/Draco - More lovely incest. Much more dom/sub in nature than any of the Weasleycest.
Hermione/Draco - A pairing that I'm not much a fan of when they're in school, but can get very hot when they're older. That's REALLY unusual for me, but I think it has something to do with Draco maturing, becoming more like his father.
Draco/Ginny - Eh, I started to read this and stopped caring. The only way I like this pairing is a cruel, dominant Draco taking advantage of Ginny. No romance, thanks.
Harry/Hermione - Similar to the above. I'll only read it for the kinks - like Hermione fucking Harry for a change, as in the fic I read today.
Sirius/Ginny - The pairing I never would have come up with if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes. The one I read was quite well done and pointed out some interesting connections between the two characters I hadn't thought of.
Snape/Draco - A pairing I feel like I should enjoy more than I do. I just have trouble seeing Snape with anyone who feels inferior to him, and that's most of the other characters right there. The one I read was nice and kinky though, which was pleasant - I like the idea of Draco as Snape's pet.
Snape/Ron - A pairing that should never be. See above, about inferiority when it comes to Snape pairings. Good thing the one I read involved a potions accident and no actual feelings or I never would have gotten through it.
Hermione/Ron - I tried. Really I did, just for the sake of adding it to the list. But this pairing makes me want to vomit, and that's saying something. Disgusting.
Hermione/Rita - I've read this fic before, which is rather unsurprising as it's probably the only one in existence. It was hotter than it had any right to be, which I chalk up to some damn good writing.
Harry/James - A pairing only the Potterverse could come up with. Another new one for me. Difficult to wrap your mind around in the space of a PWP, though I can certainly see possibilities for a longer fic.
Hermione/Ginny - That rarest of genres, femmeslash. The one I read was lovely, very poetic.
Hermione/Hermione - One of a genre of pairings made possible by the lovely inclusion of the Time-Turner. Fun, abeit confusing, fare.
Bellatrix/Voldemort - The one I read was unfortunately poorly written, but there's definitely potential here. I do enjoy the Death Eater fic!
Lily/Remus - More Marauders stuff here. I'm still having trouble getting a feel for characters that aren't in the canon (namely Lily and James). They become a name and not much else.
Tom/Lucius - Another very creative one. Interesting. I quite enjoyed it, actually, as this pairing is all about the power play, and we all know I love that.
As for Snape/Harry, which is perhaps the biggest pairing I left off the list, it's not that I don't want to try it - though I really don't see the appeal. It's just that I'd really like to give it a fair shake, and all the recs I can find that look interesting are like a hundred chapters long. That one might be a day's work in and of itself.
ETA more pairings:
Snape/Harry - Finally found a short one that looked good, and I actually loved it. It's been a long time since I felt naughty reading one of these - after a while, you get used to everything - but I felt it reading this one. I think I might be coming back for more of this, though no romance, thanks. You know what bothers me most here, actually, are that the Snarry writers are always taking shots at Hermione, and that pisses me off.
Ginny/Voldemort - Mmm, lovely. Pairings with Voldemort are always wonderfully evil, full of dominance and violence and blood, and I love them, especially this one because of Ginny's history with Tom.
Severus/Sirius - I know I already listed this one, but I found some fics that really do the pairing justice, and I have to say: HOT. They just hate each other so much, and who doesn't love some good enemy slash?
Sirius/Remus - I like this pairing, like everyone does, even though I'm not the world's biggest Lupin fan. However, people like to write them as an established couple, and I'd much rather see first time fic - which is very nice for these two, by the way.
Snape/Narcissa - A rarepair. Really lovely fic, though, featuring a young Snape less guarded than the man we're used to seeing.
Draco/Ron - A surprisingly rare pair. The one I read was quite one-sided, but that's fine as there's very little interest for me here anyway.
Severus/Lucius - A very lovely pairing, and one of the most likely slash pairings in the canon, right up there with Sirius/Remus. I love Alan and Jason and I love the characters they play - both very evil, very powerful, and very sexy. So what's not to love about them together?
I really think Severus/Sirius might be one of my new favorite pairings. Thank you, movie five, for giving me a sexy and badass image of Sirius to complement the stories!
I also read a bit of QAF RPS today, which was amazingly hot, considering all I've even seen of the show so far are clips on YouTube. I can't wait until my DVDs get here!
