It's nice to finally see the snow melting. Hopefully spring isn't too far around the corner, hm?

Is he well enough for me to come visit now?

Of course. I'm sure he'd like the company.

I told him I'd bring him some soup once he was well enough to eat it, since he seemed pretty tired the last time I talked to him.

He was, but he's in much better spirits, now.

... was he hurt too badly? He wouldn't tell me when I asked him...

It wasn't terribly serious from what I saw, and it's been healing well. Estelle's here too, so he's well cared for. It's nothing to worry about.

I'm glad. I was really worried about him when he wouldn't even let me come help after he got back.

He probably didn't want someone else to stress about his condition. There were enough people here that there was no need to trouble you with it.

But I wanted to help, and I would've been worrying about him anyway whether he let me do it or not.

You'll have to ask him, then, Emil.

... oh, is Jonah old enough to eat things like soup now? I can bring enough for him too if you'd like to let him have a little bit.

If you want to bring over extra, he can have some if it doesn't have large pieces of food in it, or food that's easily crushed.

I could make split pea soup; he should be able to eat that, I think. I don't really know the first thing about babies beyond the fact that they cry a lot, and that they've got a really strong grip.

[Yeah, he's not gonna get his antenna anywhere near Jonah ever again.]

That sounds fine, Emil. I can't say I'm an expert about them either, even after taking care of him this long.

Really? Wow, I thought it was supposed to be instinctive or something like that.

Instincts will only carry you so far. Much of a mother's instinct is only common sense and experience; there's no magic knowledge that appears when a woman carries a child.
