[And suddenly, Doctor McCoy appears in the clinic carrying his medikit and looking disgruntled with the facilities (but that is not really surprising), but his eyes fall onto the expectant couple and he walks over to them.]

[Judy's doing her best to stay relaxed while they wait, but McCoy's arrival is the first source of real relief in a while. Contractions hurt.]

Are you the doctor?

That's right. The name's Leonard McCoy.

...Thank you for coming, then. We're... both a bit lost in this.

[... Why does the lady have a shrubbery growing out behind her ears. Oh well. Aliens. He places the medikit to one side and waves his hand at her.]

Not a problem, kid. What time did your contractions begin?

[You just wait until the kid's born, he'll have those too |D She shifts uncomfortably on her chair. Now that the day's here she's even less keen on the experience of giving birth than before.]

A few hours ago. It's how I knew it was probably time...

[Thankfully she'd at least read a bit of those books of Estelle's.]

[Oh joy.]

Sounds like you're already half way through stage one of the labour.

[He crouches down next to the chair and reaches out to feel her stomach. Oh, what he wouldn’t give for a working medical tricorder right now. He is a ship surgeon, not an obstetrician.]

[It's difficult to keep from shying away from the touch - or belting him, more like. She's never been a fan of people touching her without her allowing it.]

I'm grateful to hear that.

[Suck it up, Judith. He will touch you in any way and manner that his medical judgement indicates :| but he straightens up after feeling the child.]

[Sucking it up now. She relaxes when he stops, though, looking expectantly at him. What's the verdict, doc?]

[His verdict? IT CAN COME ANYTIME SOON.]

Good news, the baby isn't breeched. That should prevent any complications during the actual birth.

...I-I'm sorry? [BREACHED, WHAT IS BREACHED, THAT SOUNDS BAD but hey, no complications, that's good, complications would be very much not good.]

[Do you see this face? This face is asking did you kids do any research?]

[This is the face of a Krityan who dives headlong into action without pause for consequence. Research about babies? HA.]

[McCoy wants to face palm right about now. It must be the pointy ears.]

sultrytempest July 23 2009, 12:42:32 UTC
[Probably. Either way, Judith thinks it would be really great if you stopped griping inwardly and help her give birth to her kid.]
