Dear Planetsave users,
As you are aware we have had a major system failure. This resulted from an attempt to move our RAID system into a faster configuration and resulted in the loss of the entire filesystem. We have just heard back from the data recovery service that we took our drives to and they have just informed us that we have lost the entirety of our data structure and that there is no hope for recovery of our data.
This is bad on two levels. Not only does this mean that all of your archived email, addresses, and information is lost but also the basic configuration of our entire system has been lost. This means that we will need to reconstruct our entire system before we are able to allow access to our email system again.
What has not been lost is everyone's account information and passwords. When we turn the system back on (which we estimate to happen in early december) your old username and password will still be what logs you in to the system. Since we have this opportunity we do intent to turn on additional features when we bring the system online. We are evaluating exactly what those features will be at this time.
Please accept our apologies for this major system failure. We are a very small (2 person) hosting company and providing service to Planetsave has been a challenge and treat. Planetsave receives hundreds of thousands of emails every day and it is our desire for us to get over this hurdle together so that Planetsave can grow and continue to pursue our goals.
