It’s coming soon
You’d better attune
Their decision they will not sway
They say its house arrest
This they doggedly detest
Thus the ever approaching X-Day
They’ll make it disappear
A dangerous career
Their decision they will not sway
They say “Let’s get rid of it!”
“Blow it apart bit by bit!”

The hints are ‘tail’ and ‘sleepless nights’

Ursa Minor is where they met
And their plan they began to set

Though all seemed forgot
One thing was begot

Polaris’ life at its desperate end
Until the plot is set in motion by a friend

Slowly they buy
And begin a supply

Their plans are unknown
Except by these four friends alone
