Hahaha baduy ba my title?
That just means tapos na surgical rotation ko at home base. It was one month long, and about 3/4 of the time was toxic - i retract my earlier statement that it was a pahinga rotation.
1 month of keeping 'close watch' over toxic patients, lectures when I'm tired enough not to care, a lot of paperwork, a few operative procedures, and being bored at the out-patient dept (and annoyed with FEU's nurses/student nurses).
Curious thing about nurses - the more specialized they are in their field, the more yabang and feeling and ma-utos they are. Well, i guess u could say the same about *some* surgeons, but not all doctors, I assure you. :o)
As for the interns (us), it feels like were closer as a batch. Batchmates that I didn't know before are being friendly now; batchmates I would specifically avoid before, ko-biruan ko na ngayon. There are a few exceptions of course - I feel they'll retain the hatred of the batch for a long, long time to come hahaha.
Up ahead is another month of surgical rotation in outside hospitals. one week per hospital, four in total. Yay, I get to go back to JR! The other hospitals, Metro and POC, balita ko food is catered and free, all 3 meals of the day! Super sosyal daw Metro, I'm kinda getting conscious baka I won't belong there. Other than the fact that it's an almost-purely Chinese hospital, I've mostly been around charity patients and public hospitals haha, I've adapted an attitude for that environment!
In other news, deadline to apply for post-graduate internship (the 5th year of medicine they don't tell you about) was 2 days ago. I originally applied to DOH and PGH. DOH because it seems... a respected internship, and because most of my friends applied there. And PGH, even though they accept only the top graduates from each school. I applied only because my mom knows a (pretty powerful) doctor there, and they both insisted I apply. I sincerely hope I don't get in because super toxic daw there!
Anyway, I'm in the process of changing my mind. DOH and PGH are both public hospitals. I thought I was ready to sling it out another year being toxic and learning skills. But now I'm thinking private hospital nalang. I haven't decided completely, I have till tomorrow pa.
What do you think guys? Public hospital where I'll learn skills (and retain the demeanor of a public hospital doctor)? Or private hospital, where I'll learn the theoretical aspect and remain young?
Ok, enough thinking. Time to drink.
Aww I think I'll kinda miss my inside-surgery rotation (as opposed to the hell that was my inside-pedia rotation!) And I'll definitely miss being in the RR with you-know-who haha. Oks lang, there's another whole month (OB rotation) for me to be in there. :o)~~~~
