I'm reading Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets, of my own volition. I'm going to read the third one too then give up. I like it - I like the ordinariness of the stuff they do, not just the magic/massive threat which will come at the end ( Read more... )

You can't stop after the third one! The fourth book is where the story really kicks in. That has the Quidditch World Cup at the start, and I like it because it's a nice magical spin on ordinary stuff.

I like that tattoo, I love the font and I like the meaning behind it.

You're just on a mission to make me read all seven though! Hmph. Quidditch World Cup does sound like fun though. I like Snape, he's such a cartoon baddie and I just don't believe he's bad?

Thank you! I like the font too - a bit tatty

*innocent look* The Quidditch World Cup is great. There is camping with tents that are bigger on the inside... Snape is awesome and you get more of his backstory in later books.

I like the 'typewriter ribbon running out' look.

I have to agree with you. The first three could kind of stand alone but the fourth one is where shit gets real!

I've always said that GoF is my favourite book for that reason. The first three are definitely children's books but with the fourth one, it gets much darker and shit, as you say, gets real. When you compare the way it starts and the way it ends, there's a huge change there so it's like the bridge between the more easygoing start to the series and the seriously dark finish.
