I am really ridiculously missing my dad today. It's not his birthday, or his death day, or a significant day in any other way, I am just filled with general sadness. It's an 'I wish I could pick up the phone and tell you X Y or Z' type of thing.

I don't think that the day matters for when you miss someone. I guess anniversaries are just for concentrating that kind of thing, like an outlet, but emotions aren't generally bound by time.
