i think i figured out what radiohead is. it's surreal. they are very surreal, they take raw emotions and translate them lyrically into (characteristically male) abstractions of emotion, and embed them into surreal, straying melodies. it's the need to stray from the raw emotion that i don't like. it's an elaboration that creates distance. (yet still maintains an undeniable presense of the original). i imagine this is what modern society values. emotion without abstraction, perhaps, like beauty, has become redundant.
