i was just reading an article in the paper about how texting and other modern social websites are affecting child care and how much attention is placed on child rearing.
it used to be that higher socio-economic circles had more words per day than lower income kids, and therefore a better vocab and better chance at schooling.

they said the average upper income kid heard 2153 words an hour and lower income heard 616 an hour.

my first thought was if they had ever gone to Robins house it totally would have skewed the average. Robin, could you picture the poor person that had to sit there with a clicker as you tell the stories? or tape it, slow it down to get an accurate count?
