Sorry. I ramble sometimes. =D

The first two sentences sums up my view on what I've been learning in the lectures. Then the following sentences drifted to me talking about the laboratory work that I did/needs to be done.

--> Enzyme activity experiment = We use a manometer for this, but then most of the materials used for building it are faulty. Good thing my partner for doing most of the experiment has taken the course already so the assembling of the instrument didn't really become a burden. Then we mash liver that contains the enzyme catalase, and we make a dilute solution out of it. We do different things to that solution, but basically we let it react with hydrogen peroxide because we want to find out the amount of oxygen gas that would evolve from the reaction.
--> Genetics experiment = Breeding fruit flies. The variation of the flies that I got is sepia ebony. I would have preferred the dumpy sepia breed because they wouldn't get away that fast whenever I need to examine them under a microscope. This experiment is time-consuming. I will start doing this experiment on Monday.
--> Ecology project = It's better to work in pairs when doing this. We have to go an uninhabited location and do something to that place, like identify the plants and animals living in the vicinity, or identify bugs living in a specific plant.

We're very hands-on this semester. =)
