Holy crap, Canadian radio station, stop playing "Billie Jean" all the time. I'm not saying you can't play Michael Jackson music but OMG, PICK SOMETHING BESIDES "BILLIE JEAN", KTHX. HE WROTE OTHER SONGS, YOU KNOW. (Nothing against the song, but hearing it every single time I walk into the garage--because we have the radio playing in there--is kind of tiring).
Anyway, I discovered I still have Internet today so I guess I won't have any further complications. 0: It was really frustrating when I lost it because I had this killer headache and my laptop acted really weird about the whole thing. Usually when I lose Internet it doesn't act like that, so I really thought it wouldn't use wireless Internet anymore. Siiigh whatever.
Uh, I saw District 9 on Thursday because my sister watched to watch it.
I thought the trailers made it look like...well, not a stupid movie exactly, but I really didn't get why everyone was going on and on about how this was such an AMAZING movie. Well, I did see it, and I thought it was a well made movie, but...urrrgh I was already feeling really pessimistic about humanity before watching the film. And seeing the horrible stuff in the movie, I'd like to think humans are better than that and wouldn't do such things, but... yeah, I know better. Though I'd like to think that, you know, if we actually had aliens come here we wouldn't be so fucking stupid and horrible about the whole thing? In fact, I can't really think of why it would have turned out that way. Wouldn't the scientific community be all OMG YAY :D and we'd let the aliens leave if they wanted? Or...or am I being too optimistic?
I dunno. D: The movie makes me want to think, but everything it makes me think about depresses me so I'd rather not think about it...and the forum I look at that talks about movies, 80% of the posters are guys and they're just like HAAA DID YOU SEE THE WAY THAT GUY DIED IT WAS SO COOL and... stuff like that. D: I'm not trying to diss guys or anything, but pretty much all the posts were going on about how the fighting was awesome and the effects were awesome and the movie was AWESOME but...no one talking about the other aspects of the film. Maybe I'm just over thinking the whole thing? Maybe I'm just too sensitive? DDDD:
So...so I don't know. I don't hate the movie, I do think it was well made. And the ending was kind of sweet. I realize I watched it at a wrong time, when I was in a really bad mood. I should probably rewatch it when I'm calmer and not thinking such dark thoughts before to give it a more proper opinion. I don't want to exactly say the movie made me uncomfortable because that's not really it, but did I enjoy watching it? Not...really. I don't know if that was the point, to make you uncomfortable--all those guys posting in that thread seemed to really enjoy it because of the action. I might try watching it again (obviously not in the theater but like...DVD or something. Yay recession.) but... I don't know. Maybe it's not a movie for someone like me, I don't know.
And then I feel bad, being reluctant about praising the movie, and not being able to say I enjoyed it. Even though I only have one friend (that I'm aware of) who's seen it and they don't care about my opinion. And I've tried to figure out what I think about this movie and...I have such a hard time trying to explain what I thought about it, even to myself. And I don't even know what that means. Arrrrgh. And then I just think I'm over-thinking the whole thing. I dunno. Oh wait I'M JUST BEING A SENSITIVE GIRL WHO CAN'T HANDLE VIOLENCE, YEAH. D8
Anyway, when my Internet wasn't working and I had a headache (so I couldn't read) I watched two other movies THAT ARE CHEERFUL, OKAY. Uuuh they did actually help with the headache, thankfully, and I managed to read a bit of The Hobbit before going to bed afterwards. SO LET'S TALK ABOUT THE HAPPIER MOVIES HOORAY >__>;;
Mars Attacks! was kind of...disappointing, hahaha. I've wanted to watch it for years and since it was Tim Burton I expected it to be pretty damn awesome, you know? I don't think he's the best director ever, but I enjoy some of his movies a lot, mostly Ed Wood and Edward Scissorhands. Sooo this movie didn't suck or anything, but it wasn't really that funny (considering how this is supposed to be a comedy? Sure, I chuckled here and there, but I wasn't laughing my pants off like a comedy movie should make me do) and the characters were...kinda odd. I only kind of cared about that ex-boxer guy who works at the casino and that kid who helps his grandmother...and that redheaded girl was all right. That British dude was just pretty ridiculous (like, how often does he really have to puff at that pipe?). The scenes with the aliens were the only time I really laughed, but considering it's Burton those scenes could have been a lot funnier. ): But the effects were so well done. Yeah, so this movie was just okaaaay. I could watch it again but I would never buy it. Afterwards I wanted to watch Edward Scissorhands, though. *dies*
Aaah theeen I watched Little Shop of Horrors, which was just fucking awesome. Like, seriously, why did it take me so long to finally watch this movie? Steve Martin's parts cracked me up and actually made my bad mood go away. Though after watching the movie, because both Rick Moranis and Bill Murray where in it, when I went to bed I had a Ghostbusters-themed dream. I've actually had bad dreams lately (I blame my medicine ;_;) but the Ghostbusters dream was AWESOME so it was kind of refreshing! Though it was the three white guys and this blonde girl on the team, no Winston ): Or maybe he was in it at the beginning but not at the end so I forgot it. But the girl did pretty much everything and they were, like, kids...yeah I dunno. The Ghostbusters, being kids, with a girl on the team. IT WAS A FUN DREAM OKAY. And there were attacking coffee mugs.
Okay but anyway Little Shop of Horrors was awesome and you should watch it. 0: IT HAS THAT LADY FROM PUSHING DAISIES IN IT HAHAHA. It was bugging me so much because Audrey looked and sounded so familiar, but I didn't have Internet so couldn't look it up. But she plays one of the aunts!
Yeah, so I should buy the movie now. What's not to love about a giant plant eating people? (Though I want to wait until they put the deleted twenty-minute ending on the DVD because Wikipedia says they haven't yet. D: The ending is a lot darker, and was going to be in the movie originally but test groups didn't like it, so they changed the film ending to be a lot happier.)
Oh, so, has anyone else heard about the
STRETCH ARMSTRONG MOVIE?! Oh god, I thought that was a joke, but they're seriously making a movie about it. (I still kind of hope it's a joke though, because holy shit.) I hope it's not made, oh my god. How is that going to be a good movie SERIOUSLY.
Besides, barely anyone played with that toy. They stretched it around for like ten minutes, got bored, then decided to stretch it enough to break (or they just took a knife and stabbed it) to see what was inside. And, uh, a movie about Monopoly and Candyland is annoying but...I guess I could see where they could get a plot, even if it's crappy. How the hell do you do Stretch Armstrong? I mean, you could make a superhero movie about a guy who stretches...but then why not just make a Plastic Man movie or something? Oh, right, sorry, then it wouldn't be a Hasbro movie and they couldn't make more toys, boo-hoo. It's like that "1) Make shitty movie based of "nostalgic toy" 2) Make thousands of dollars worth of merchandise for the shitty movie because EVERYONE TOTALLY WANTS A STRETCH ARMSTRONG TOY, YEAH THEY DO 3) ??? 4) PROFIT!" ...except how this movie is not supposed to bomb I dunno.
HEY, BY THE WAY, THEY'RE REMAKING
THE WOLF MAN. The trailer...aaah it looks so iffy. :| I dunno. I don't want to diss the movie before seeing it, but I'm getting Van Helsing vibes from it. ):
I WANT A GOOD WEREWOLF MOVIE DAMN IT.
I still have hopes for that Nightmare on Elm Street movie though. >: Even though I haven't seen any trailers. BUT RORSCHACH PLAYS FREDDY. S-so that means it'll be good, yep. >__>;;
