I am a self-confessed birthday person. I love the wishes, the blessings, the cake, the celebration and the gifts. And most importantly all the thought and consideration that goes in making an individual special. :-)
Plus for me, it’s more of a cozy family thingie than anything else. This year, I wasn’t sure if I would have as much fun as I do every time. Coz X couldn’t get leave. Y was in Cape Town. And Z was flying on the same evening to Singapore.
But they all planned my day in such a way that I didn’t really feel they weren’t around.
There were lots and lots of gifts. From iPod Nano (4th generation) and jewelry to perfumes and lipstick to night suit and key chains to cute knick knacks and figurines, I pretty much received everything conceivable. But I am really touched by my eldest Mausi’s gesture. She gifted me a goodie bag containing a gorgeous champagne-colored shimmering woolen hat (knit by her), along with a body lotion and an embroidered velvet pouch. :)
This is me, modeling one of my presents, a hand-made Venetian mask. It’s something I had promised to buy myself whenever I travel to Italy. Looks like I can now spare those precious Euros on something else. ;)
At my place, we always order a cake of the birthday guy/girl’s choice. I had been craving for an old-fashioned, classic chocolate cake. And so my sis-in-law specially ordered one such cake from my favorite Moshe's. And they did a wonderful job. The sinfully chocolaty cake was wiped off in no time.
As a gift to myself, I took a two day off from work and slept to my heart’s content or watched TV like nobody’s business. Here I am, blowing candles on THE cake.
As always, there were flowers to brighten up my day.
a) Two bunches of red and white roses.
b) A pretty basket of orchids.
Since Z was leaving for Singapore later in the night, we opted for an early dinner at Indigo. Before we headed for the restaurant, I paid a visit to Ayyappa Temple, I love going there, even if infrequently. Coming back to Indigo, their food is scrumptious while the ambiance felt welcoming. As for the service, it is nothing short of impeccable.
I only managed to take pictures of the starters because after I began gorging on these, I forgot about everything else: (I finally had a white pizza (rocking or what?) besides mushroom risotto and some spicy linguini in main course!!)
Okay, so these are heavenly puffs of cheese coated by crisp almond slices with citrus remoulade.
And these are magnificently marinated cottage cheese in some yummy herbs and stuff that I don’t have much clue about. It sure tasted good.
I have to say I loved the cocktail I ordered. It’s called Green Apple Twist, which basically translates to vodka, chopped green apple, macerated lime and mint.

Everyone I care about, remember or know, wished me...family, friends from school, college, work, LJ. Indeed, what a birthday! Makes me happy and humble at once. To be honest, I kind of struggled to sleep for two days. I cannot possibly articulate it. I almost felt scared to feel this good. Then again, I must be doing something right. :-)
