They're going label-independent

First off, sorry to the flist who don't know/couldn't careless about Switchfoot.

They totally uploaded Awakening on YouTube themselves! They always amaze me; sharing with their fans and allowing direct downloads from their site. There are probably other groups that do this, but I don't know of any. So Switchfoot remains #1 for that matter ^^. (lol the dude is eating with chopsticks!! There's Japan everywhere!!)

Second, sorry to Switchfoot themselves.
I've had their Oh!Gravity album since xmas, but I haven't listened to it yet, and have been totally ignoring their blog posts for a few months now *fails* I was actually planning on going to London last February to attend one of their concerts, but Johnny totally took over my brain and pushed the rest out of the way. (that plus money factor + going alone factor + depression factor.. yea that's a big load of factors!).

So, the news: they ended their contract with Columbia/Sony and are now independent! wow. many groups are doing this. I think it's a sign of maturity. Like you start out only wanting to make music, then you realize there's more to it than that. I hope they'll be able to hold on and do better than they have till now. Maybe they'll become big in Italy and next time do a concert here ^^

NEXT BIG NEWS: they're going to Iraq to do a concert for the troops there!! like HUH !!?!
well, I'm glad they're not making a stop somewhere else near there, otherwise I woulda got upset >__<

** Switchfoot is the group that wrote/sang "Only Hope" and "You" in the movie "A Walk to Remember". ("Only Hope" is the song Mandy Moore sung throughout the movie as well).

My absolute favorite song is "I Dare You To Move" from their "The Beautiful Letdown" 2003 album. "Meant to Live" is also wonderful. But all their songs are great!! ^^ I'm being pulled back into the Switchfoot fandom ^^ not that I was ever fangirling like I am Johnnys. All I did was fall in love with their music and listen to it a lot ^^

Oh yeah, my journal title (Learning to Breathe) is actually a song of theirs ^^

A definite switch from JPop, ne ^^
