Kyuhyun was just a normal kid in high school. He went to school, he dealt with classes and homework, ate for a while, and then went home. He wasn't particularly special. Kyuhyun was the one known for being in upper classes, ever the smart one in school. He didn't have an abundance of money to spend on a very good school, and as a result, he ended up going to a mediocre one and being top in all of his classes.

However, when the second year of his high school career started, everything changed. He was still in higher classes, but something...

People used to not notice him at all. They would skim past him in their attention span, and he would only capture the attention of his close friends. Now, one person seemed to focus on Kyuhyun, he could just feel it. The hairs on the back of his neck would stand up as he worked; getting a feeling that someone was watching him intently. However, whenever he turned around, there would be no one there.

A few weeks into the school year, Kyuhyun opened his locker and gasped. There was a very large bouquet of roses inside, barely squashed into the small space. He looked around, and everyone was staring at him. It wasn't often a teenage boy would open his locker to a bouquet of roses. Kyuhyun slammed the locker shut, face flushed, and left to his next class with his head bowed low.

The staring feelings intensified throughout his classes. Kyuhyun was feeling a little paranoid when he reached into a bag and found a letter. The name on the outside was for him, written in an elegant script. Kyuhyun wanted to shove his face into his pillow and scream.

The mystery was solved soon enough. "Kyuhyun." A deep voice called, and Kyuhyun turned around. He was surprised to see Choi Siwon jogging towards him, the star of the soccer team. "Kyuhyun, right?"

"Yes." Kyuhyun answered, surprised. It wasn't often that someone he didn't know approached him. Sure, he had a few girls request him once in a while but it wasn't particularly often. Not to mention that Siwon was a boy. "Can I help you?"

"Yes, you can." Siwon smiled. "Let me take you out to dinner."

Kyuhyun stared. Well, this certainly was new. He tilted his head to the side, considering it. There certainly were a few pros and cons to consider. Siwon was quite handsome, there was no denying that. However, if Kyuhyun did decide to take this man up on his offer, there would be several girls looking for his head. He was weighing these mentally for quite a few moments, as Siwon's face started to fall. Kyuhyun spoke quickly. "Sure, why not."

Siwon was nothing but a gentleman at dinner. He pulled Kyuhyun's chair out for him, ordered for him, and simply was polite overall. Kyuhyun blushed when they made eye contact, still a little on the shy side. He wasn't used to this, all of the attention focused on him. Siwon was dressed nicely in a navy button up collared shirt and slacks, while Kyuhyun had simply donned a black t-shirt and skinny jeans.

The large majority of the dinner itself was fairly quiet. Kyuhyun wasn't one to keep conversation flowing, but Siwon didn't seem to mind. If anything, he took the time to simply admire Kyuhyun. The younger felt thoroughly awkward, simply picking at his food. Towards the end of the dinner, when Siwon was finished eating and waiting on Kyuhyun, the elder decided to speak up. "Are you okay? Did I do something wrong?"

Kyuhyun's head jerked up. "No, no!" He cried, almost too loud. Kyuhyun ducked his head down as several other people turned to look at him. "You didn't do anything wrong." Kyuhyun said softly, trying to give the other another idea. "I'm just quiet, I'm sorry."

Siwon simply offered a wry smile. "Why don't I take you home, Kyuhyun." Siwon said quietly. He paid for the food and led Kyuhyun to the car, where they drove home in silence. He walked Kyuhyun to his door, shook his hand, and then left without another word.

Things were quiet at school. Kyuhyun was no longer bothered by Siwon for romantic reasons. The older man hardly spoke to him anymore, and Kyuhyun didn't know what to do. He had started to grow fond of Siwon over the few days after their date, even if he didn't realize it yet. It seemed that the most powerful trigger was Kyuhyun knowing he couldn't have Siwon anymore.

"You look happy." Zhou Mi said to him sarcastically one day. Kyuhyun hardly even noticed he was speaking, instead simply concentrating his gaze on the table. "Kyuhyun." Zhou Mi snapped in Kyuhyun's face, effectively startling the younger boy out of his daze. "Seriously, there's something wrong. Tell me about it?"

Kyuhyun was quiet for a moment, before turning to the elder. He always seemed to know what he was doing in life with his relationships. Maybe he could help Kyuhyun with whatever his issue was. "Siwon. Choi Siwon, you remember him?" Zhou Mi responded with a nod. "We went to dinner. And I think I did something wrong. He hasn't contacted me at all since then."

Zhou Mi gave Kyuhyun a sympathetic smile. "I'm sure he'll come around." He said, patting Kyuhyun on the back.

Kyuhyun was out walking to the shop one evening, hand going through his wallet to see how much he had to buy food with. His parents were out of town for a business trip, so he was on his own for the night.

At the intersection, he stopped so he wouldn't be run over by a car. He looked up, and froze instantly. There, on the other side of the intersection, was Siwon. And not just Siwon, there was Siwon and a woman he was holding close. Kyuhyun sucked in a deep breath, fingers clenching around his wallet. Siwon's expression was horrified.

A gigantic truck passed between the two of them. When it was gone, all Siwon saw was Kyuhyun running away, a wallet forgotten on the ground. "Wait!" Siwon yelled. He let go of the woman, apologizing quickly, before racing through traffic. Cars screeched to a stop and honked profusely, but that didn't stop Siwon.

Pausing only to bend down and grab Kyuhyun's wallet, he continued sprinting. Siwon was much faster than Kyuhyun, and managed to catch up to him as the younger was running through a park nearby. "Kyuhyun!" Siwon cried, grabbing Kyuhyun's shoulder and spinning him around. "Wait, I can explain."

"Explain what?" Kyuhyun snapped, voice breaking. "That you invited me out on a date all as a joke? That you were dating some woman you loved all along?" His hands were clenched into fists; eyes squeezed shut as liquid dripped down his cheeks.

"No!" Siwon exclaimed, bending down a little so that he was eye level with the shorter man. "No, Kyuhyun. I thought you weren’t' interested in me, so I tried to give up on you. That woman you saw with me is my sister. I love her, but not in that way."

Kyuhyun looked up with wet eyes, wiping his tears with his sleeve. "Really?"

"Really." Siwon laughed, ruffling the other's hair. He pulled Kyuhyun in for a hug, and pressed a kiss on his forehead. "I really, really like you." He whispered.

"I-I think I like you too." Kyuhyun said with a smile.
