A random update.....co-incidences and funny happenings

I love recounting tales of my past to myself, so it's nice to have this journal to actually write them out for others to read if they're so inclined. I fancy telling you about a couple of co-incidences that have happened to me.
Firstly I saw the other day a film that's always been a special favourite, especially as a teenager. 'Far From the Madding Crowd', which is based on the sort of novel you study at school, and is one of my favourite books too. I adore the film; classic British acting at it's best and a cracking period, historical drama and romance too. Not something I usually go for, but it's just done with such style that I love it. One of the minor parts in the film was Fanny Robin. She was a young, poor girl, madly in love with a fickle soldier who tossed her aside, leaving her to eventually die in childbirth in the poorhouse. It was only when he sees her in her coffin with her dead baby that he realises what he's done and how much he loved her. I adored the girl who played her, Prunella Ransome. She was elfin and pretty with long, reddish hair and I idolised her. I never saw her in anything else again so I had no idea what became of her.
A few months ago when I was staying with mum and dad, we went for a walk in a local forest and an attractive lady of about 50 came up to us and asked directions. Afetr she'd gone, mum said to me "She's an actress you know. She lives near here" I asked mum who it was and she couldn't remember her name but said she was in Far From the Madding Crowd. I stopped dead in my tracks and looked back at her and said "Prunella Ransome!!"I actually said it so loud I'm sure the lady heard! Mum confirmed that it WAS her and it was all I could do to stop myself running back to her to tell her what a huge impression she'd had on me and how it was my favourite film and she was my favourite actress! I'm sure it would have actually made her day, but I didn't dare! I was gobsmacked! What were the chances of actually running into her like that? Wonderful!!

The next co-incidence I may have mentioned before so apologies if I have!
Between the ages of 7 and 11 I lived in Nottingham about 30 miles away from where I am now, and we lived next door to a couple called Eric and Eileen, who were great friends of my mum and dad. I used to play with their son Paul. They moved away to London at about the same time as we moved away so I hadn't seen them for about 30 years. Mum and dad stayed in touch, but as they now live in London, we'd never actually met up again. Near where we lived is a beautiful park that we often went to as kids, and about once every two years, I take my kids there for a day out. A couple of years ago we decided to go and we parked our car in the car park and got out. As we locked up, a car drew up alongside us and a man said to me "Do we have to pay?" or something like that. I looked in the car and who should it be but Eric and Eileen!! They'd decided to come to the park for the first time in 30 years all the way from London! What were the chances of them picking exactly the same day as us, AND actually talking to us like that? the funny thing was, we both recognized each otehr instantly! It was great! We had a nice chat and then went our seperate ways. Mum couldn't believe it when I rang and told her that evening!

So there ya go! I just felt like telling you all that :-)
