A Medcenter on Coruscant, Sunday

Jul 24, 2016 11:02

It had taken five days for Farani to recover enough that she'd been allowed out of the kolto tank. The center they were at was military-funded; Atton had to give his clearing several times as they helped Farani walk out of there. Didn't matter. Sure, he'd started this trip fully planning to throw himself into all kinds of scummy poodoo to make ( Read more... )

who: atton's bb soldier squad, where: coruscant

It was a couple of hours before Sparkle could settle on something to send back, having put his phone down to mull over a reply once he'd gotten Atton's message. He'd been at work, anyway, so it wasn't like it was difficult to distract himself with things that needed to be done, especially since he'd been absent for so long.

Finally, he managed to send his return text, something far too simple for his tastes, but he wasn't sure what the hell else to say, these days.

Good. Keep it that way, okay?

He sent it before he could talk himself into try to revise it again. It was better than nothing, anyway.

I'm fine, Sparks. Doing nothing dangerous you wouldn't do.

Which was only a reassurance in the sense that Atton's brand of dangerous was exponentially greater than Sparkle's.

It helped a bit. After all, Sparkle could mostly handle the trouble he got himself into on his own, and Atton could definitely handle THAT much.

So burning buildings down and flirting with hot people who are armed and dangerous?

Definitely no on the former, and only a little bit of the latter.

That girl at the bar last week probably counted. And that other one. ... and Constantine. There was no way a guy that good at conning people couldn't be considered armed and dangerous.

Right now I'm just hanging around medcenters. Not for me, by the way.

Because Atton could see Sparkle jumping to that conclusion in .5 seconds.

And he totally would have, too. Jeeze, Atton.

Medcenters? Something happen?

You know the adorable squad of Republic soldiers that sometimes follows me around? One of them got scuffed up pretty bad. She's just been released.

Was just whooping as she stepped outside and felt the sun on her partly-reconstructed face again, in fact.

Aw, shit. Glad she's out. She gonna be okay?

Sparkle really didn't know the adorable squad from Adam, no, but they were Atton's people, so he cared. Couldn't help it.

Think so. They managed to save her arm. Barely. I think. Might be some cybernetics in there now.

Atton hadn't wanted to run the risk of getting punched for asking.

Better than no arm at all, I guess. Glad your galaxy has the means to fix people up like that.

Because in this one, from the sound of it, that arm would've been gone.

Be glad the Republic finally has a few credits left to do something like that for the veterans, Atton typed.

Was there a sigh in that text? Maybe.

How's things over there?

Quiet. Apparently something hit the island last week? I was in Tokyo, though. Missed all the excitement. Found an almost dead guy on the road on Friday?

Fandom stuff, really.

He was just ALMOST dead, right?

JUST CHECKING.

I hope so. I mean, he walked to the hotel on his own two feet, so either he's actually alive or he does a really good living guy impression.

Sparkle, the things you didn't yet know about Peter Octavian...

I'd be freaking out at you for the third day going if he'd been all the way dead.

Eh, just a normal day in Fandom, then, Atton wrote. At least he didn't come falling out of the sky on you or something.

Not onto me, but out of thin air not far in front of me. On me would've ended badly. I would've freaked.

He wasn't even going to pretend he wouldn't. There would have been screaming. And possibly kicking and biting.

Yeah, there would have been. In fact, Atton had enough experience with Sparkle that he could picture it.

So there's a win for him then

He sighed, eyeing his phone for another moment.

Might be stopping by next week

You know. Shoot the shit. See how much time he'd have to spend annoying Anakin because looking at him still made Sparkle jump five feet into the air. That sort of thing.
