Well, it has been a busy, but an unproductive month. I did find a new job, but it started a lot earlier than September, leaving me working two jobs for the past 4 weeks and hardly any time to work on anything else. The new job is pretty awesome, though, and pays more a living wage meaning both 1) no more loans (woo!) and 2) saving to pay off the loans I have (woo!). Between working two jobs for a month and what not I should be able to put a bit of those nasty buggers away.
Anyway, last months goals:
1. Get half-way through the DH glossary
EPIC FAIL. I didn't even open this.
2. Talk to Gary Mar about presenting my paper on rationality and religious conversion
Success, but disappointment. Although he had thought he could recommend it, he discovered he couldn't. back to the drawing board with that one.
3. Finish Reading and writing the Weber and Euthyphro sections.
Half-done. I've finished reading Weber and the Euthyphro stuff, but I have not finished writing it yet. I have a deadline of the 11th, though, since I'm meeting with Celina and Cara.
4. Finished Lefort
FAIL. didn't open the book once.
5. Get dissertation club meetings with Cara and Celina set up.
Success!. Okay, so I did almost exactly half of what I should have done: two ups, two downs, and one halfway complete. I'm not too disappointed given how little time I had. I also got an iphone with a task-manager app that I'm hoping will help me be even more productive. That, coupled with having only one job for a while will be great!
So: July goals:
1. create a budget that includes at least some savings to tackle loans
2. finished Weber and section on 'radical belief change'
3. begin to write up finished proposal
4. get 2/3 of the way through DH glossary, and contact him with a draft of the idea--as well as the glossary.
5. Finish Lefort
6. Start Habermas
This seems reasonable, even though the month is already about 1/4 over.
Also, Paul came to visit last weekend & that was nice.
the end.
