So I'm working full-time, as a manager, in a bookstore, busier than I ever thought I'd be. The time flies from the moment I walk into the store, until the milisecond the molecules of my leading toe reaches the door jamb. Amazing.
Juan came to work with me on Saturday: he spent the whole day reading, away from the house, away from my folks, relaxing. Most probably watching me running around like a chicken with her head cut off. The work never ends, literally. There's always something to do, whether it's helping out the cashiers on a return or void, stand in the café to relieve an associate for a break, get the ball rollin' in the customer service area, or just plain bouncing around the aisles and alphabetizing the books that are so out of whack. I didn't think I would like the retail scene again, but I have to hand it the working gods.. this has been one interesting kick. Besides, I like the tune to the cash flow... at least until the bills start kicking in.
I've been checking out several online Universities lately.. I think I'm gearing toward getting my teaching credentials. I might wait on working towards my master's, but if I have my teaching credentials, I'll have a better chance landing my dream job: a teacher back in WA. Who knows how long I'll be in LA. For the moment, saving money, working like a dog, enjoying my time off, and well, sort of playing adult.
On a last note, Juan introduced me to an amazing book that we're reading together. It's called "God's Debris" by Douglas Adams. Adams for sure. But the subject matter is amazing. I recommend all take a 10 and dig into it. I'll get into the details later... but until then, I'm fascinated by one of the book's characters who asks, "What is the probability of a nickel landing on heads if it were tossed 1000 times?" Definitely a thought to ponder among the books these days.
