This is great. Roomie Jo has left for the weekend.. and how do ya think I start the weekend off? Cleaning frenzy!! Well, let me tell ya.. OUCH! Our flat was completely filthy.. with cat hair, dust balls and dirt! Ps. Jo, dearest Jo! We *must* get a routine down!! ;) So.. I went through, rearranged the apartment, made up the beds, and sent the cat spawling out the door! hehe.. now it's TOTALLY AWESOME! I put on some incense.. started listening to Windows Media Player and set my dial to streaming radio--- New Age radioAMBIENT!! Totally rocks. I was in zenn mood all evening. Now I just wish I had that special guy to share the evening with! ;( Oh well..
Hats off to Chelsea.. went working at the survey lab this evening from 6:30-9:15. It was closed but I recieved an email to come in because we needed to finish a particular survey. I had just begin my *rearrangement* and it was already time to go. Double bummer. Oh well--I felt good about the experience anyway; completed 6 surveys in 2.75 hours. Wouldn't it be nice if we got a bonus for putting in the extra effort?? (Sigh)..
Earlier today.. went to check out a potential 3 bed/2 ba apart for Jo, Amanda and I to live in at the beginning of the year. The duplex was right off of Jenifer Jean.. which is known for being the 'party' street, from what I hear. Anybody know the real deal?? Anyway, wasn't too impressed. The place does need a bit of work; painting, new moulding, kitchen revamp, a few walls---oh! And the freaking master bed batheroom STUCK LIKE A MOTHER! Damn.. someone MUST have forgotten to FLUSH! ugh.. I was sick a bit after. Needless to say, I told the rental property agent that a major cleaning was definitely needed! She agreed.
So.. since I was already in my car--I went over to the *house* again! Wee! Jo and Amanda had already spotted the 3bed/2ba yellow house off of Garfield. Johnny and I had passed by there a few nights ago--but it was seriously too dark and eery to see anything!
So when I passed by the house again, I was a bit surpised. It's quite cute, and I was able to see the mint paint on the petit cuisine walls (I swear it was the laundry room at one point..being so small!> Did a total check of the house, and pictured where the rooms were as I couldn't see much through the blinds, and there was no access (or *break in* point as I like to call it..!!) Generous living room with hardwood floors.. kitchen, leading into the hallway, bathroom, and 3 bedrooms just kiddy-corner to one another, all facing the back yard. Ahh.. will have to wait until Monday to check it out, though. I really liked the idea of having a yard---both front and back, like this house has.. plus a newly built shed which is supposed to be the washer and dryer unit. I envisioned the things that we could do to the place.. planting a few gardens, plants, shrubs.. so many great ideas!! (shoot.. I'm afraid I'll get my roots stuck too far into the ground here in LA if I keep thinking about this!)
Ahh.. which brings me to Washington. I miss home like crazy. Yes, I know. Louisiana should be called my *home* after 2 years of being here. Afterall, I'm a resident, right? I finally know my way around BR. I have the LA driver's license. I've eaten a poboy or two, several crawfish jumbalayas and gumbos, and 'miscellaneous' goulashes that of course, visually could have been forgotten but tasted so good! And, not to forget, I can officially be be called the transplanted-'Louisiana's Unknown Symptoms'-case. What could it possibly be?? At this point, allergies. I say, fuck it. Louisiana doesn't need more Cancer researchers and doctors. We need people who'll have the balls to go out to each and every one of the over-100 petrochemical plants between BR and NO and get their asses into shape. It's affecting LA folk--the pollution, the mal-testing..who's accountable for this? Does anyone freaking care? Do you all just want to keep getting sick, turning a blind eye to the real problems here? ...
Did you know that Louisiana produces more than 70% of the nations' Petrochemicals?
Now tell me, we don't have a problem here.
Damn.. one day I'll do something. For now, I'm just bewildered. For now, I'll have to deal with my allergies. And hopefully, one day, a few more eyes and ears will join me in this fight...
ahh.. sleep is calling. Sweet tunes.. and maybe a few pleasent, masterfully-woven dreams await me.
