Value

I took some reading to the bathroom, strangely enough as one does, thinking I was going to be there awhile (I'll save ya the details, but hey! doesn't everybody?? :) )

In any event, I took out the Ethics book that I'm borrowing from my friend B, turning almost immediately to chapter 4, value, The Quest of the Good. I turned a few pages, skimming ( Read more... )

value = the $0.99 menu at fast food restaraunts.
hehehehehe. i don't like Pojman. he seems objectively pompous. if you want to know about The Good read Plato. for him, life is all about the quest for The Good. if you want to know about value read Nietzsche. for him, life is all about value judgments. if you want to know about Being read Heidegger. for him, life is about being in the world. however, if what you want is to jam, roll with me.

Interesting... but i don't think life is only about good or values or being or jamming. Life has to emcompass all these things, not the search for one only. So while i could reach each one to learn about his specific belief, i wouldn't consider any of them the whole truth.

Now, the 99 cent value... is a good value, but i vouched never to eat hamburger from those joints again :(
