yeah i saw that, i recently joined that community, i'm kind of a late comer to the new bsg, but i've seen almost all the episodes.
starting to have second thoughts about the community though, there are too many "shippers", a couple of weeks ago i thought a ship was something you take a trip in, like a boat or a spaceship, but not in the context these (hopefully) teenieboppers are using it. but i guess some of that has to be expected with a space soap opera.
anyway, i have my doubts that that star formation means anything, it's definitely possible, but then again i wouldn't be shocked if people were just looking way too hard at things.
this episode left us with more questions, i mean there were enough already.
i will say that airlocking is now my 2nd favorite way of killing someone, beheading is still #1.
originally i was doubting the orion thing was intentional by the writers etc... but this 2nd post about it has almost convinced me it wasn't a coincidence or something else, but completely intentional.
If I remember correctly, the scene shown here is the one where the Brother Cavils get their revenge on the Boomers, Leobens and Sixes. Not to go too much into analysis on this, but its not necessarily representative of where the Colonial Fleet is located. Especially given that Cylon FTL tech is supposedly better and more accurate.
I guess the closer they get to Earth, the more we'll be seeing little clues like this. That is unless, like you said in the first post, this was an accident.
Still, I love seeing people wet themselves over little clues that could mean fuck all. ;)
yeah, i'm pretty sure you are right about the timing in the episode and yeah i love the logic involved, hey we can see what could be orion in a shot with cylon ships, so they (the fleet) is close.
however, there is a shot at the end of the episode where cally is going to airlock herself and the kid where she is looking out a window and you can see some stars that could also be orion. hell i'm just gonna upload it here. If you look in the bottom right hand corner you can see the 3 stars, not sure they are the same 3 stars, but if they are, THEY ARE GOING THE WRONG WAY!!
holy shit, way too much that is fucked up about it.

And now I wonder whether a post-dead Callie will start appearing to Galen a la Baltar/Six and Six/Baltar.
