"Heifer whines could be human cries
Closer comes the screaming knife
This beautiful creature must die
This beautiful creature must die
A death for no reason
And death for no reason is murder
And the flesh you so fancifully fry
Its not succulent, tasty or kind
Its death for no reason
And death for no reason is murder
And the calf that you carve with a smile
Is murder
And the turkey you festively slice
Is murder
Do you know how animals die?
Kitchen aromas aren't very homely
Its not comforting, cherry or kind
Its sizzling blood and the unholy stench
Of murder
Its not natural, normal or kind
The flesh that you fancifully fry
The meat in your mouth
As you savor the flavour
Of murder
No, no, no, its murder
No, no, no, its murder
Oh... and who hears when animals cry?"
-Morrissey.
And on that note I will say, Tracey and I had the most amazing vegan chicken nachos last night. I've become a fucking phenominal vegan cook. There seriously isn't ANYTHING I can't make vegan. I think that's what has helped my mom stick with vegetarianism for this long. I will say that I am very proud of her for not just turning a blind eye and continuing to eat meat. It makes me feel good that she isn't just a sucker for tradition and old fashion thinking like most of her generation. I make sure and remind her of what a good person she is for her choice. I can tell she knows she is doing the right that. It is good feeling.
