The problem with religion is that people do not ask themselves questions involving how relative beliefs and morality are to our ever changing time. As knowledge increases we forget to look back and check our foundations to see if they can hold all that we now know.
The feud between science and religion is one brought on by believers' unwillingness to readjust as needed and required by existance. It is an arguement brought on by fear. Anyone believing in a religion where glorious afterlife is promised is afraid when told they might not achieve such a thing afterall. It is a refusal to accept reality and an attempt to escape it.
I have accepted that there will be nothing after this some time ago. It is something that I am ok with. I am satisfied with that because, I don't need another chance to find happiness and closure. Both of those precious things can be found here. You will have those who look back and regret giving up the search for something easier and seemingly more attainable. I have made a conscious choice not to be among those people. I will not waste this opportunity given to me in the form of life. I don't need to be answered when I ask, "why am I here?" I am here to make something from nothing. I am here to live and watch others live along side me. I am here to discover my own strengths and to overcome inherent weakness.
Afterall, why not? What else are we doing?
