I realized that I hardly ever write in here anymore. Not that I've ever been a fan of journals or some prolific writer but it's still a bit weird to go from writing in here often to not doing so at all. I would say I'd make more of an effort but I am Draco Malfoy and since when have I ever committed to doing something like make an effort? Well, where my father and mother weren't directly concerned, anyway.
Speaking of my illustrious father, apparently he's slimed his way onto the ballots for Order of Merlin. Does no one else but me find this to be total and utter bullshit? Because it is. The man deserves nothing of the sort, although if they were to make awards for those who constantly weasel their ways out of bad situations, I suppose he'd be the recipient of one more often than the Canons lose games.
I don't like where this is going because I've seen it before. I've lived it, before. Back when I was younger I didn't know what it meant, of course, but by the time I was old enough to understand power and what it meant, my father had plenty of it in the Ministry. He's on that path again. He'll come out of this war with no blemishes to his name and a son who is a severe disappointment, but of course he'll find a positive spin to that. He's got his politician's face on now. I think that the wizarding world has cause to be worried.
Although, they're probably all too stupid to realize. Such a pity, really. I suppose I ought to help open the eyes of the idiotic masses? Yes, I know. Doubtful.
Just thought I'd check in since I haven't been home in a few days. I'm still with Pansy. I should be back home Thursday, but we'll see. Plans always change and Malfoys are always fashionably late.
Saw the ballots for the Order of Merlin. Now, what should I put a check next to for you? Pity they haven't got one for Ruler of the Universe. They haven't even got one for god. I suppose that their opinion of you over at the Ministry must not be what it used to be, Potter. Try not to cry all over your new robes. Wouldn't want them tear-stained before the big day.

Just how did my father manage to get on the ballot for Order of Merlin, again? Not that I'm shocked. We are talking about Lucius Malfoy, after all. I'm just a bit . . . concerned.
Congratulations, by the way. Saw your name on there. I was a bit sad that you didn't get a box for a new designation separate and above the rest. I'd have checked it, just to annoy the hell out of you. Still, an Order of Merlin. You're just moving right on up the social scale, aren't you, sir? I suppose all of that 'new Dark Lord' business is either well and truly behind you, or someone in the Ministry finds it incredibly sexy and worth recognition.
