This may seem like a late post... Our holy father died and he really looked so peaceful. He has such a gentle face. Like Omar, We came to see him at the WYD 1995 and there's something about his presence made us feel... refreshing. Of course I couldn't join WYD then because I was just a child but we had a chance to participate by hosting two WYD Delegates. He really was a great guy--bringing down communism, bridging gaps between Catholicism and other religions (Muslim) and catching up with the modern times. He made a big, no make that huge difference. He was able to mix politics and religion without sounding too pulitikal if you know what I mean. Unlike Cardinal Sin... masyadong namumulitika kaya madaming galit sa kanya.. Well Feel free to react this is my opinion.
Anyhow, I couldn't help but think about the book Angels and Demons by Dan Brown. I know it's just fiction but Dan Brown is one helluva guy. He ALMOST persuaded me from The Da Vinci Code. It's cool though thinking who's his Camerlengo, The Vatican library... secret archives, the scandals behind the history.
One of the remarkable parts of the book is how the Camerlengo explained, God gave us the most precious gift, He is our father and Him being the most powerful being, He still gave us the freedom to choose. So although He has the power to interfere and prevent us from pain, He would choose to show His love by letting us experience and learn our own lessons. Pain is part of growing up. It's how we learn.
To the "coolest" Pope
