Summary: Joonmyun is Yixing’s sleeping beauty or something like that.
Notes: I hope it’s to your liking, and thank you G for your kind words.
The curtains billowed softly as the wind drifted inside from the open window. Sunlight streaming inside, stirring the sleeping Yixing from his sleep. It was Sunday and Yixing had half a mind to bury himself deeper, snuggle Joonmyun and just go back to sleep, but then his stomach growled.
Yixing groaned and sit up, rubbing the sleep off of his eyes. He then looked at the still sleeping Joonmyun, soft hair falling lightly over his face, the light from the sun highlighting his soft features and his angelic smile plastered on his face, which made Yixing wondered what he was dreaming about.
Yixing slowly made his way towards the bathroom, washing his face and brushing his teeth. It was almost afternoon when he patted his face dry. Yixing then made his way back to his lover, still sleeping on the bed, like a baby, thought Yixing. He sat down on the bed and inches closer towards Joonmyun, softly touching Joonmyun’s face with the back of his hand, trailing it all the way down to Joonmyun’s chin and then he softly traced Joonmyun’s lips with his thumb.
“Wake up sleepy head,” said Yixing, but Joonmyun didn’t even stir, only his smiles brighten. Yixing laid down on the bed, arms over Joonmyun waist, he scooted closer towards him. “Joonie,” said Yixing, kissing his forehead, “wake” then the both of his eyelids “up” and lastly his nose.
Joonmyun stirred but only to bury himself deeper into the sheets. Yixing scooted even closer, tightly wrapping his arm around his lover, “Wake up my sweet,” Yixing whispered and kissed Joonmyun softly on the lips. He pulled back to see Joonmyun’s eyes opening slowly, and then he blinks rapidly only to stare at Yixing.
Joonmyun smiled looking at his lover, eyes still laced with sleep, “good morning sleepy head,” said Yixing. Joonmyun licks his lips, he could still feel the brief kiss. He scooted even closer towards Yixing, leaving no room between them, he wraps his arm around Yixing’s waist and buried his head on his chest. “Good morning love,” Joonmyun mumbled, and kissed Yixing’s naked chest. The older boy stayed still for a while, then Yixing heard his soft snores, he buried his head into his small lover’s soft hair stifling his laughter, vanilla scent filtered into his nose. Yixing stomach growled even more, but he ignored it, content with spending his Sunday snuggling with Joonmyun.
-
Yixing was in China when Kyungsoo told him the news, Joonmyun got into an accident; he was walking home from the convenience store, crossing the road when a speeding car crashed into him. The collision sent Joonmyun flying and he crashed head on with the ground and rolled a few meters away from the scene. The driver swerve to the right after hitting Joonmyun and hit the lamp post.
Yixing booked the first flight to Korea.
-
It was almost midnight when Yixing came home, the house was dark save for the light in the living room. Joonmyun was sleeping on the couch, the only source of light was the TV and Yixing turned it off. He smiled looking at Joonmyun, he kneeled down to face him and listened to the sound of Joonmyun’s breathing. Yixing stroked Joonmyun’s hair. “Wake up Joonmyun,” he said softly, giving Joonmyun a peck on the lips. His boyfriend stirred, blinking his eyes open. He then sat up the couch and rubbing his eyes. Yixing was amused.
“You’re home,” said Joonmyun, smiling at Yixing. “I miss you.”
“I miss you too.” And Yixing gave Joonmyun another kiss. He then stood up, holding his hand out for Joonmyun to take and then helped his lover get up. They kissed once again and Joonmyun wrap his arms around Yixing’s neck, smiling as the kiss get deeper.
“We should sleep now,” said Yixing when they broke the kiss.
“Not sleepy,” said Joonmyun.
“And whose fault is that?”
“You,” Joonmyun said matter of factly. “Let’s play Mario Kart,” and his eyes light up.
“No, we have work tomorrow,” said Yixing and proceeded to steer Joonmyun to the bedroom. Joonmyun pouted, in which Yixing kissed the pout, unable to help himself.
“Carry me?”
“Okay, my princess,” said Yixing and carried Joonmyun bridal style. Joonmyun spluttered and Yixing laughed all the way to the bedroom and laid Joonmyun gingerly on the bed.

Yixing went straight to the hospital from the airport, upon arriving at Joonmyuns’ floor, he saw Kyungsoo standing solemnly outside the room, Luhan and Jongdae were also there. Luhan comforting the sobbing Jongdae.
“How is he?” Yixing asked, running straight towards Kyungsoo. “Is he okay?”
Kyungsoo shook his head, but he was relieved to see Yixing. “The doctor said he’s in a coma, and had a severe head trauma. The car knock him pretty hard and and … I don’t know anymore,” Kyungsoo cried. Yixing has never seen him cry. “Look at him Xing, he’s not waking up,” Yixing hugged the now sobbing Kyungsoo and looked at Luhan.
“Can I see him?” Yixing asked.
“You can only see through the glass on the door, the doctors are still not allowing any visitors,” said Luhan. His mouth pressed thinly.
Kyungsoo backed away and Yixing let go of the hug. “It’s pretty bad,” he croaked. Yixing smiled weakly at him and walked towards the door, trying to see Joonmyun.
Joonmyun’s head was wrapped with a white cloth, Yixing noticed the faint pink spot. His face is now all swelled and bruised up, his nose is broken, he’s not going to like that, Yixing thought. The left side of his face was patched up, and even his lips is swollen and cut. Joonmyun’s left foot was suspended on the air, casted and bandaged, his right arm was also in a cast. Wires attached on his arms and body, monitoring his progress. There’s an oxygen mask strapped on his face, helping Joonnmyun to breathe regularly.
Yixing didn’t realize that he was holding his breath. That he’s now squatting on the ground sobbing. The image of Joonmyun smiling and laughing when he kissed him goodbye at the airport played inside his head. He didn’t notice the tears rolling down his cheek, or how he’s holding his chest tightly because it hurts so so much seeing Joonmyun like that, helpless, dying, or how much he’s shaking, how Luhan ran towards him yelling at Jongdae and Kyungsoo to call the doctor because Yixing is not breathing, how Luhan held him telling him to breath, goddamit Yixing! Breath!, how he gasped but it wasn’t enough, it’s never enough, not without Joonmyun by his side.
-
The first time Yixing met Joonmyun was when they were in the university. Yixing had to take Interracial Literature class for extra credit, and Joonmyun came in 20 minutes late, smiling angelically at the professor and proceed to sit in front of Yixing, right next to Jongdae.
“Late again,” Jongdae hissed.
“Not my fault that my alarm clock is broken.”
“It actually is,” said Jongdae and Joonmyun shrugged.
Yixing painful one year crush started that day.
-
They had Joonmyun moved from the ICU to another room in the hospital after getting him stabilized. No more complicated wires and needles attached on any part of his body save for the heart rate monitor and IV drip.
Yixing visited him every day, bringing a single red carnation with every visit. He stroked Joonmyun’s hair, it doesn’t have that healthy glow anymore, but Joonmyun still sparkle in his eyes. He kissed his forehead “Hello babe,” he said.
Yixing sat on the chair, holding Joonmyun’s left hand, palmed it open, touching every single finger lightly, and brought it closer to his face. Joonmyun’s hand cupped Yixing’s cheek, he turned his head closer to the palm and kissed it lightly, not minding that Joonmyun is not as warm as he used to be, that he’s no longer smiling, eyes crinkling when he laughs. The sound of Joonmyun’s laugher played inside his head as he let another tear rolled down his cheek. “Joonmyun, please wake up.”
-
“How long have you known Kim Joonmyun?” asked Yixing, cornering Luhan at their dorm room after he saw his best friend talking with the said boy, exchanging laughter in the cafeteria, he didn’t even missed the playful punch Joonmyun gave Luhan.
Luhan frowned at him, “Since freshmen year?”
Yixing groaned, frustrated at his friend, “you knew his since then and didn’t even bother to introduce him to me?” he asked, moving to sat on his bed.
“I didn’t - wait, you’re interested in him? Kim Joonmyun?” Luhan asked incredulously, Joonmyun is the history nerd on campus, he could list out all the important dates to ever happen in the world history, in chronological order, and not missing a single detail. Joonmyun is also the resident sleeper, his sleep obsession is even worse than that Kim Jongin kid.
“No duh.”
“He is not even your type!”
“So? What’s your point?”
“He always woke up late, the most disorganized boy I know, except for that thing he has with history, has the worse fashion sense, have you seen his ugly sweaters collection Yixing???”
“Are you interested in him Luhan?” Yixing glared at him.
“Ew, NO!”
“Good, you can introduce us then,” said Yixing, getting up from his bed, patted Luhan’s shoulder and went out of their room whistling. Luhan groaned.

He and Jongin were pretty into their dance routine, perfecting their moves, so they didn’t notice when the door was opened slightly, and a small tuff of brown hair peeked inside.
Joonmyun goes wide eyed looking at Yixing and Jongin’s dance routine, all sharp movements timed perfectly with the beat, the way the Chinese dancer sway his hips made his throat dry.
Jongin was the first one to notice him through the mirror. “Hyung!” he said and stopped dancing, breaking Joonmyun out of his reverie and making Yixing frown; precious dance practice time should never be wasted. Jongin turned off the music and walked towards Joonmyun and that was when Yixing noticed him, looking so small and lost by the door.
Oh
“5 minutes break, ok hyung?” Jongin asked him, and he could only nod. Walking behind Jongin, feigning that he wanted to go out and buy some drink.
“You want anything?” he asked Jongin.
“Water, thanks man.” Yixing nodded absent mindedly again.
He walked past Joonmyun, smiling at him, noting that Joonmyun smelled heavenly, like strawberry and vanilla and he’s all sticky and sweaty and yuck. He walked towards the vending machine at the corner thinking about all the possibility as to how Jongin knew Joonmyun. Jongin won’t just abruptly stop their dance practice like that, even when Sehun came to visit, he has to wait till practice ends before he could talk to Jongin.
Yixing was mulling the idea of Jongin possibly dating Joonmyun, Joonmyun is beautiful and smart, he’ll be perfect with Jongin, Jongin is tall and has a beautiful tan skin. Yixing was not ready for the heartbreak.
He gave the bottled water to Jongin, Joonmyun was not there when he was back.
“Took you long enough,” said Jongin, gulping down the water and finishing it in one go.
“Sorry, got something on my mind.”
“That was my cousin Joonmyun by the way, if you were wondering,” Jongin started. “He said he knew you from his lit class.”
Yixing nodded, trying so hard to hide his rapidly beating heart. His body feel so light and he felt like he could fly, Joonmyun knew him, Joonmyun noticed him from their lit class, the love of his life acknowledge his existence.
“Let’s go back to practice,” said Jongin, turning on the music once again, totally not noticing Yixing’s love struck smile and how giddy his friend is now.
-
It was one of those days where Yixing feels like he’s losing all hope of seeing his angel smile again, feeling his soft kisses, hearing him whispers ‘I love you’, having Joonmyun wrapping his arms around him, his warm touches, hearing his laughter, hearing him sing, Yixing missed hearing Joonmyun’s voice the most, he could sit and watch Joonmyun talking, his melodious voice filling Yixing’s every soul.
Yixing put the red carnation into the vase beside Joonmyun’s bed, it’s a tight fit, Yixing needs a new vase soon, as he looks around Joonmyun’s room and litters of vase filled with red carnation are pooling inside the room, each carnation for every day that he has spent waiting for Joonmyun to wake up.
“I went to Luhan’s again today,” he starts, sitting down on the chair, stroking Joonmyun’s hand. “Minseok proposed to him yesterday, you should’ve seen his face, shocked does not suits him, or laughing, I wonder what Minseok sees in him. Anyways, they’re getting married in two months, Luhan asked me to be his best man, as if I would ever say no. Maybe one day, we’ll be the one to walk down the aisle, I bet you’ll look even better than Luhan and his insoles would ever be.” Yixing smiled down at Joonmyun, watching his unresponsive face, he kissed his hand.
“Remember when I went to China before . . . all this happen? It wasn’t because my mum was sick, that was a lame excuse by the way, it was because I wanted to propose to you Joonmyun, I went back for my grandma’s ring, there’s no one else that deserve this ring better than you,” Yixing took out a ring from his front pocket and slipped it on Joonmyun’s ring finger. “It looks perfect on you,” he said as he kissed Joonmyun ring finger. Yixing raised his hand to stroke Joonmyun’s cheeks and silently wept at how thin he is now. He rise from his seat and kissed Joonyun’s forehead, “I love you,” he whispered and then kissed Joonmyun slowly on the lips, his lips are all chapped and dry now, and that was when he felt Joonmyun’s hand tighten around his.
-
Their first date went miraculously well, Yixing was a nervous wreck where Joonmyun was all sweet and smile, he even paid for their dinner despite Yixing being the one to ask him out. It has been a year since the disaster of them being formally introduced by Luhan, Yixing would rather not talk about it, and it took months for him to finally ask Joonmyun out on a date, because Jongin conveniently told him that Kris from the art department been trying to do the same. Joonmyun was all eye smile and sweet when he accepted it.
They were walking back towards their dorm, it was a couple of blocks left before Yixing has the courage to finally hold Joonmyun’s hand, Joonmyun then laced their hands together, and even after a year, Yixing hearts still beats rapidly, he silently hope that his hand is not sweaty and gross.
They safely arrive in front of Joonmyun’s dorm building, Yixing doesn’t feel like ever letting go of the korean’s hand.
“Today was nice,” said Joonmyun, smiling at him.
Yixing nodded, silently looking at their laced hands and how his hand is a perfect fit to Joonmyun.
“We should do it again someday,”
Yixing nodded again, he wished that the night wouldn’t end so soon.
Joonmyun caught him off guard and pecked his cheek. “Goodnight Yixing,” and Joonmyun let go of his hand, walking inside the building.
“Joomyun wait,” said Yixing. Joonmyun turned around, still smiling and if Yixing could melt, he’ll be a human puddle right then and there. Yixing walked slowly towards him and looked at the shorter male in the eye, he cupped Joonmyun’s cheeks and saw happiness in it. “Will you be my boyfriend?” asked Yixing, and Joonmyun smiled so brilliantly, Yixing almost went blind.
“I thought you’d never asked,”
-
It has been a week since Joonmyun finally waking up from his coma, he is still in the hospital to run some more tests before the doctor deem him healthy enough to leave. Today, Joonmyun could finally go home after months of sleeping.
Joonmyun was sitting on the hospital bed when Yixing arrived, he was looking at vase upon vase of red carnations littering the floor, and some of the carnations are already dead or wilting.
“Why didn’t you throw out the dead ones Yixing?” he asked.
Yixing kissed his forehead softly, “Because each one of them symbolizes how much my heart ache for you my sweet,”
Joonmyun smiled and punched him lightly. “You and your cheese,”
“It’s true though,”
Joonmyun smiled and Yixing heart aches, it has been a while since he saw that blinding smile. Joonmyun kissed him, softly, lightly, and the kiss lingers on Yixing’s lips.
“I love you,”
“I love you too,” and they kissed again.
“What will I ever do without you Yixing?”
“Sleep forever? I guess.”
Joonmyun laughs heartily. “Thank god that your magical kiss woke me up.”
“I know, these set of lips are magic, and it’s all for you,”
“Ew, I don’t want it anymore,”
Yixing pouted. “Really?”
“No,” said Joonmyun and pulled him closer, kissing him all closed lips and sickeningly sweet. “They’re mine to ravish.”
Yixing laughed, he then went on one knee on the floor, holding Joonmyun’s left hand, the one currently wearing his grandma’s ring.
“Will you marry me, Kim Joonmyun?”
Joonmyun smiles, he kneeled down on the floor and hugs Yixing tightly, “I thought you’d never asked.”
