Users should have the ability to Recommend and maybe also Pan, posts and comments.
Full description of the idea
Each post or comment would have a Rec or Pan link. Recs and pans would be tallied and displayed.
What's more, comments could be sorted by Recs. This is a powerful function to get to the best intellectual content quickly.
An ordered list of benefits
- Sometimes just Rec'ing a post/comment is better than an "I agree" followup. Recs reward good posters, increase interactivity, and encourage a higher quality of post.
- Pans are not as beneficial, but might be useful as well.
- Check out the Rec function, and the ability to sort by Recs, at www.investorvillage.com. It's under flat threading, but it would work here as well.
- Recs sometimes create the tendency to skip posts with low recs. Sorry, dem's the breaks.
