I would suggest that the paid users get the ability to create even a limited number of basic accounts.

I'm a paid user, and happy to be one, but I occasionally spawn off secondary accounts for projects, games and other entertainments. The recent removal of basic accounts has greatly reduced the functionality of this for me, since the plus account pages are godawful ugly.
Now, I completely understand the needs for the recent change, and as a general policy it seems entirely reasonable. But as a paid user, I now feel penalized by this change, and I wonder if it might be possible for paid users to create Basic accounts. Naturally there would be some limits on them to keep paid users from just handing them out of friends, but there seem to be many ways to do this. You could tie them to the same login, like groups, or you could limit a user to a certain number of basic accounts.
In fact, it's even a potential income stream. If you offer a limited number of basic accounts to paid users, I suspect you would find that some users would be happy to pay an extra buck or two a year to add a few more. Heck, if you set them up as subaccount, I'm even willing to share content between my own accounts, so as to not require more resources for userpics and such.
Naturally, you have your own numbers to help determine how cost effective this is or isn't, but from my perspective, this is something that takes advantage of the things people _like_ about LJ.
