Title
LJ Widget

Short, concise description of the idea
It would be great if LJ users were able to tell their website visitors what's on their LJ by using a something in their site's HTML that automatically updates itself to show the person's three most recent LJ posts.

Full description of the idea
Many bloggers--in my circle, at least--are familiar with LibraryThing's widgets. LibraryThing widgets can be posted on websites and blogs to show visitors a collection of books a person has catalogued on their online library. If something similar could be designed here, then a LJ user's website visitors could see the titles of the most recent posts, which would encourage them to visit the person's LJ to read more.
An ordered list of benefits
  • It would save the LJ user time: If he/she lists his most recent blog posts on his website, as I do, then he only has to update once. Without a widget, he has to update the LJ, then update the website as well.
  • This feature would be of use to companies that use blogs to inform their customers about new products and services, hobbyists with websites, writers, artists, musicians, etc. reaching out to their fans.... Many people could use such a tool.
An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • Having only a minimal education in how JavaScript works, I'm not sure of all the drawbacks. I'm sure there are some, such as older browsers that don't support JavaScript well, meaning that some people may not be able to see the widget on their screens.
