Huh? Font tags are allowed in journal entries right?

Do you mean adding a font customisation option in the rich text mode..?

Ew, no. I don't want people forcing a font on me - what if you decide you want to write all your entries in 50pt Comic Sans mixed in with 6pt Arial and I can't stop you? At least with the way it is right now, this is already possible but many people who'd use it badly don't know how to do it.

I completely agree with this. I hate when people change font sizes, faces, and colors. Totally screws with my friends pages.

This seems a little unnecessary.

By which I mean:

Keep in mind though, using font online doesn't really work well.

This will likely work.

This likely won't.

(How that would appear to me).

Font only work if the person viewing the text has the same font installed on their computer, limiting their usefulness, especially for things viewd by alot of people.

Uhm, I don't think it's gonna be different if that option should be installed on LJ. You either have the font or you don't but I think LJ will go with standard fonts everyone has anyway.

Maybe just allow generics: serif, sans-serif, fantasy, cursive.

Then graphical editor users could have their cake but LJ-land wouldn't have to eat Sand.

It's already possible to do this by clicking on the "HTML" button on the Update page, and using HTML to change fonts within an entry - are you asking for an easier way to do this, native to the "Rich Text" editor?

Honestly, I'm neutral tending towards no. It ... makes sense that you should be able to control this aspect of the appearance of your entries, as a journal writer. But this can also quite easily result in making your entries more *difficult* for others to read.

Keep in mind that your journal entries aren't read just in your journal; in fact, more often than not, they're being read on your friends' friends pages - all of which may have differing styles, colors, and settings customized so that they are most pleasing and legible to that person - so your font alterations may not be seen *anyway ( ... )
