Title
Prefill in username field on the navigation strip, when not logged in

Short, concise description of the idea
On friends pages, when the viewer is not logged in, the username field of the navigation strip should be prefilled in with the username of the friends page being viewed.

Full description of the idea
I choose not to leave myself permanently logged in to LJ from computers I don’t own.

The first page I want to look at is almost always my friends page, so I go there, and type my username and password to log in. It would be convenient if the username field was already filled in with my username, so I don’t have to type it myself.

Conversely, if someone who isn’t me is looking at my friends page, they are unlikely to want to log in immediately, as they will not be able to see friends-only entries on my friends page anyway.
An ordered list of benefits
  • Slightly quicker to log in, in the common case.

An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • Slightly slower to log in, in the uncommon case that someone wants to log in while looking at someone else’s friends page.

An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation
  • Prefill in the username field with the username the page being viewed belongs to.

§ rejected, friends page, navigation strip, login
