And if you don't want the entry to ever show up on their friends page at all, you can do that already by checking the "backdate entry box," like the people above me said.

- "Public", by definition, means everybody. I think you're suggesting a "non-friends" security setting.
- You're talking about post-dating entries, but you're implying that these entries always show up at the top of your friends' Friends pages: I think you mean your own Recent Entries page as others see it, as this never happens with Friends pages. (Just imagine the chaos that would ensue if it suddenly did.)
You can always use the Backdate option to avoid new entries showing up on other users' Friends pages, and backdating a public entry to a few weeks ago will avoid your friends seeing it at the top of your journal pages, and - at the same time - show this entry at the top for non-friends, providing all "future" entries (in the chronological sense) are friends-only. So, thumbs down on this one.Reply
Plus, it would not at all affect the way *anyone* operates their journal now; you could still continue to use that backdating function or whatever. Because some people wouldn't be able to figure out how to use a new feature is *certainly* not a good reason to toss it.
